Guys and Gals,

If you haven't noticed, the latest batch of Baden Fires are crap! Somebody out there has outsourced the product and it is so noticeable its a crime! There is no longer a crack sound like hitting a baseball, its a low thud sound! I noticed it here in California playing for a travelling Thursday 60+ senior slow pitch team out of Placerville, CA. The average player know nothing but people with some pop agree with me! This started about 2 months ago when my team ordered new Fires. I have played in a few tournaments since and really noticed the duds both on Thursdays and some tournaments, specifically Ripon and Pleasanton recently! My twin brother plays for a Kansas City tournament team and he sees the same issues! They play leagues Mon/Tue/Wed in Raytown, MO and fences are 290 all around. They use Baden Fires and the homerun totals have significantly decreased! WHATS UP????

Thanks for the input. We have been having this issue here in the midwest
the last 3 spa tournaments. There are 2 balls on their website for sale.
The 1spa312y is a blue stitch and it stinks, the 2sb550ys is the black
stitch, and is just about as good as the trumps ssusa uses. They gave us
the blue stitch balls for 2 tournaments, said they were all the same, yeah
right. I brought this up a the meeting before the last tournament, and the
director said we had to use what spa sends them. I proceeded to tell him
that we pay too much, and travel too far to play with "park district" balls. Overnight something happened, and we had the good balls for the 1st two games. We come back at 2:30 to play again, now there using utrip balls.
So, I go to the tent after the game, he, the director said I have to talk to the guy from the park district. He is a young man, he said they are all
the same 44/375. I said no they aren't, come with me to an empty field and
I will show you the difference. He said I believe you, and I will make it
right. He did, we were happy with the black stitch balls the rest of the way. Spa is outsourcing much of the the tournament duties to the park district's they are renting the fields from, and these people don't know
the fine points.

Just got back from the SPA/Nit in Ohio. In 4 straight games on Friday, the above game ball split (tear in the cover)in the games and the ump had to put in additional balls.

Played in the SPA/Nit in Ohio also, the balls were great we hit a new ball all day long. The back up balls were flying out as well. Couple umpires were lost but that's the norm. Good tourney other than that.

We also played in the SPA/Nit in Ohio Saturday and Sunday with no complaints on the Baden Fire ball that was used. As was said above, we too had a good supply of new balls provided throughout the tournament and they all flew well. The rain Saturday washed things out in the afternoon but the directors did well to adjust the schedule and recover on Sunday. The facility there was top notch and we will definitely be back next year.

The latest Baden Fire 2sb550ys has changed for the worse! I will ask my brother to post the pics on facebook! If I could post it here I would! The labels are completely different and even the color is slightly lighter and greener! Wake up people! We are being ripped off by Baden! Shame on you!

Baden went to a synthetic cover instead of a composite cover for the black stitch balls. These barely perform better than the red and blue stitch balls did.
