| Aug. 30, 2016 Bushnick 3 posts | Heat stroke After playing in Manassas ,2 weeks ago in 115 degree heat indecies, I had a logical thought! After watching the paramedics carting out player after player, it hit me: There should NO games started after 11:00 am and to be started again at 6:00 pm. This would mean some games under the lights, but much better than having players hospitalized and possibly dying! Makes SENSE? |

| Aug. 30, 2016 DaveDowell Men's 70 4312 posts | Ummmm ... Well, I guess we COULD do that in theory in Las Vegas ... We'd stop play at 11:00 AM and resume after local leagues end around 10:00 PM ... Yep, that would give us game times at 10:00 and 11:30 PM, 1:00, 2:30, 4:00, 5:30, 7:00, 8:30 and 10:00 AM ... Do we have a consensus??? ... That's hilarious! |

| Aug. 30, 2016 Duke Men's 65 908 posts | Dave, this does sound hilarious, but I have played in a tournament like that in the Palm Springs heat in my younger days. We started at 7am and ended at 12 noon. We began again at 4:30pm and stopped at 10:30pm. Obviously, with the number of teams at the Vegas Worlds, this would not work too well over a 3-4 day span. Then we establish another issue concussion, we all know that out fielders can not see at night. I can see my team now dropping like fly's with feedback like I lost it in the lights, or I saw three softballs lol (just a little softball humor !!!) |
| Aug. 31, 2016 CAT 200 posts | We played 2 days in that heat. Those conditions should be treated just like anything else that would be hazardous to the player's health. I asked the umpire for extended times to the games and it took till the middle of the game to get water in our dugout. No concession to the situation. We lost to a team that had 18 players and inning after inning they kept an argument or conversation to the ump to keep us in the field. It worked; with heat exhaustion and not completing a full game, we lost. These moments should be handled by the umpires if the directors are not there. However, if using multiple fields, I think a RESPONSIBLE, DECISION MAKING representative should be at each field or the complex is closed. We have two players that are still recuperating. |

| Aug. 31, 2016 pizzaboy 78 posts | I have to agree with Bushbuck and Cat the schedule could of been better.I play for Pill&Pill 60AAA and we played 5 games in that heat on Saturday!Come on that's ridiculous for the young guys to do let alone the 60s.We started the last game at 5:30,I'd of rather played at 8am on Sunday!Poor,poor planning by RB on this one!And yes our pitcher was one of the five taken to the hospital from Potomack!I love to play but 5 games in one day when it's 100 degrees isn't a joking matter guys! |
