Vegas Fields?
Last year, well in advance of the Las Vegas Worlds, there was a "Tentative Field Assignments" list posted. It was very helpful and seemed to accurately reflect the actual placements. Does anyone know if such a list will be coming in the immediate future?

Tentative field assignments for Session #1 is already listed and with the amount of teams coming in for Session #2, Dave & the staff will have their hands full.

It was Labor Day weekend and the final day for entry was September 2nd. Surprised that the complete list is posted and I'm sure the Tentative Field Assignments for Session #2 will be up & running this week.

Give them a little time to enjoy the Holiday weekend and the everything will come together!

I cannot find any listing for the "Tentative Field Assignments" for Session #1. What is posted is the "Game Schedules and Brackets" for that session. Of course it will take time for the actual game schedule to be determined for Session #2 since the entry deadline was September 2.

The Field Assignments list simply gives the expected locations for each of the divisions and age groups. For example, 60 AAA teams play at Sunset, etc. I believe this list was available in August last year as we used it as the basis for choosing a nearby hotel.

Ozone, look under master field assignment tab for session one.

Thanks, JBTexas but that's not what I'm referring to. The comprehensive list you cite shows every game on every field for the whole session.

What I'm looking for is a simple list that was done well before the final team count and composition was known. For example,

Men's 60 Major: Arroyo Grande
Men's 60 AAA: Sunset Park
Men's 60 AA: Sunset Park

Something like that. Since there's only about 2 1/2 weeks until Session #2 begins, perhaps there will be no "Tentative Field Assignments" list this year.

Ozone8 ... We are not publishing any field assignment "guesses" this year in advance of the release of DRAFT Game Schedules and Brackets ... This is largely due to an incident earlier this season when a municipality gave away our fields to another event (youth vs. adult priority, and we lost out) ... That unleashed a torrent of unfair, largely anonymous, criticism here, which is now easily avoided ... The difficulty in making these types of guesses is hard enough with the growth of this event, so we're just waiting until we "know" ...

Session #1 (Men's and Women's 40's and Senior 50+ Women) has been published, so those are firm ... It seems you may be in the Session #2 (Men's 55's and 60's) or #3 group (Men's 65+ and more senior) ... Session #2 (Men's 55's and 60's) had it's deadline Friday evening (09/02/16) ... The Session #3 entry deadline is tomorrow (09/06/16) ... It takes a couple days to tie down the entries, by rating group, and so far this weekend we have received "Whoa, we weren't on the preliminary team list but we're coming ... We already have our flights and hotels!" emails ... So, Session #2 should publish in the next few days and Session #3 hopefully by this coming weekend, both of which would be about two weeks ahead of session starts ...

If you are awaiting an announcement before making a hotel reservation, that's probably not the best course of action ... Most, if not all, of the host hotels have sold out for this year's championships ... We're not the only event in Las Vegas right now and demand for rooms has been unusually high ...

Dave, thanks very much for the detailed explanation. We certainly understand why you discontinued publishing the tentative field assignments but it's a real shame as that was quite helpful information. Given the definition of "tentative" you would hope that people understand things may change but evidently not.

I thought you did a very good job with the "guestiimation" of field assignments. Perhaps you might consider revisiting the subject in the future.

Thankfully we already have hotel reservations, just trying to get mentally geared up for the fields we'll be on.

Thanks Ozone8 ... Much appreciate your understanding, and we'll likely re-visit again in the future ... This is a pretty large jig-saw puzzle every year and takes some time to fit all the pieces around local leagues and other restrictions ... And thanks for being an honest man! ... We believe the overwhelming percentage of "Where are we playingggggg?" inquiries have very little to do with hotel choices and a lot to do with curiosity on location, regardless of hotels ... With this being the 5th year in Las Vegas, our sense is that most people stay in the places they like and have before, as enhanced occasionally by where they have their "frequent player/loser" cards for reduce room rates! ... Good luck!
