Sept. 21, 2016 surf88 Men's 65 1000 posts | Zytiga/Prednizone Is anyone out there familiar with or experienced with either of the meds above? If someone has used these and can perhaps address potential experience and/or side affects that may accompany them, it would be appreciated. A friend has asked me to inquire about this. Thanks, ea@andrewsdev.com |
Sept. 21, 2016 DCPete 409 posts | have taken prednisone sporadically for the last 20 years. Great as an anti-inflammatory & seems to ramp up your whole energy level but sometimes to the point it becomes hard to get to sleep. Should probably take it all at once in the morning. |

Sept. 22, 2016 DCPete 409 posts | Haven't had any side effects other than sleeping difficulty but would agree it's best to take with food. Prescribing doctor said consistent, long-term usage can cause bones to soften but most people take it in a single 7 to 10 day tapering dose for a specific problem (inflammation, pain, swelling). Prednisone is a steroid & once you take it you'll see why steroid use was rampant in pro baseball; it makes you feel stronger & more energetic, at least in the short term . . . |

Sept. 23, 2016 bkb555 301 posts | my mom was on prednisone for years to combat COPD....a serious side effect is that it makes bones brittle as we found out later with many micro fractures in her spine.......if it is short term, it will do it's job, but long term has serious side effects....use as doctor directs |
Sept. 23, 2016 king 44 16 posts | Surf, I have Rheumatoid arthritis and will have flare up of joints to the point where it is very painful to even walk. Under doctors supervision i will have to take sometimes even to play. The main side effect i have is weight gain when using. We played a tournament a month ago i left work Friday with no pain and Saturday morning barely able to walk so i took a couple of pills and the pain went away we played 5 games on Saturday. We picked up a player to play and he suggested to a couple of players to rub on some Absorbine Veterinary linament i did not use. The other guys said it relieved the pain. Sunday morning barely able to walk. Monday morning still in pain after work i decided to buy some Absorbine to try that night. Tuesday morning 80% of pain gone and Wednesday 100% pain free. I also have L3, L4 & L5 disc degenerating and pain. I applied to my back for 3-days and now am pain free for 3-weeks. Just thought i would share this as a possible alternative to reduce pain and swelling. The formula for humans is Absorbine Jr. which I have never tried. |

Sept. 26, 2016 surf88 Men's 65 1000 posts | Evidently the zytiga has certain side affects and his doctor has prescribed prednisone to taper or offset the side affects. He missed Saturday night prednisone tablet and Sunday had splitting headache and high blood pressure. Anyone experience this scenario? |
