| Sept. 27, 2016 Bballer3 21 posts | Fields at Shadow Rock Played there a few years ago and the fields were not that great. I was wondering if any positive changes were made to any of the fields there recently and if so....to what fields? thanks in advance! |
| Sept. 28, 2016 Dirtball Men's 70 24 posts | Played there this weekend 60AAA, all infields are dirt, well groomed. Fields #3 and #4 have turf outfields in very good shape. Fields #1 and #2, outfields are still grass, somewhat worn and rutted. |
| Sept. 28, 2016 pizzaboy 78 posts | I played RC for Pill&Pill this weekend at Shadow Rock.The dirt infields on the turf fields were OK with few bad hops and of course the outfields were excellent.The big minus on field #4 was in late evening the RF,Rc,2b ,P and 1b couldn't see the ball off the bat.Don't even get me started about the outfields on fields 1-2!They are pathetic with a capital P.My goodness they are terrible.If I were SSUSA I'd be ashamed to use those two fields.They have a few vine weeds trying to cover the dirt and rocks in the outfields.Plus the infields were yielding quite a few bad hops!If I were Rick Pill and paid that much money I'd still be beating someone's ear!!!!!I can't believe they used those fields in a tournament of this magnitude!But hey what do I know I'm from WVa!!!!!! |

| Sept. 29, 2016 pizzaboy 78 posts | Rick great to know your alive and kicking!I always say the best catch I ever saw in Senior Softball was by you.Was that before or after you hit kicked out of the game in the first inning after you got a hit?We did well because we were short two outfielders that's why my old butt was in right center!We came in 5th out of 39 teams.W ere you playing out there?Always a pleasure and don't be a stranger. |

| Sept. 29, 2016 hurdler52 22 posts | you are correct pizzaboy, Shadow Rock is ok for day play, but is a tragedy waiting to happen under the lights. The lights are very weak and low for any fly balls to be seen in the outfield and there is terrible glare in the infield around 2nd base and shortstop. This park should not be used for night play. I hope SSUSA listens to these comments and rectifies this situation for next year. |
| Sept. 29, 2016 Jon44 Men's 55 149 posts | Outfields on 1-2 are horrible. It's the worst field I have played on in any senior event to date. I am always paying close attention to field assignments for worlds and the spring tourney hoping and praying that I don't get stuck at Shadow Rock. I am actually surprised they even play games on 1-2. Fields 3-4 are great-- no issues there. |

The new fields are really nice and the older ones are still better than ANYTHING we have at home in San Antonio. Why do those guys complain?.." ... The only honest thing I could tell him was "..Because they can!.." |
| Sept. 29, 2016 wagon487 Men's 55 578 posts | Dave, you are really going to try and defend Shadow Rock based on someone playing on an ever worse field than Shadow Rock? Which is hard to believe. Those two fields in front are awful. Not level, rocks everywhere, ruts, clumps of grass and weeds in the outfield. Tons of bare spots. The dugouts didn't even have a cover on them. I played there last year in the finals of 55 AAA. 105 degrees everyday and no cover. It doesn't sound like it got any better. The back two fields, great. |

It was a mess-way too many balls got lost in the darkness. I know we are older and eyes don't see as well after 40 in the dark, but....... |

| Sept. 30, 2016 jolly52 Men's 60 53 posts | We played at shadowrock in the 60s division Fields were fine for daytime use a little rough on field 1 Outfield... umpiring was good.. then came the night games a whole different scenario since fields are two levels lights from other fields showing right in your eyes hard to see the ball... I Thought Field one was bad at night but I think it was fied 2 was horrible.. We started early in the morning... started our second night game at 10:30 and wasn't finished till quarter to 12... to me this wasn't a softball game it whoever was lucky enough to see a ball and catch it... lights were horrible gave neither team a chance to prove who they were all it did was see whoever could catch a shiny object cause you couldn't tell it was a ball... having 60 year old players out on this field after being there all day and not finishing up till midnight is dangerous luckily no one got hurt ssusa please go out there and take a look for yourselves at night I agree this field shouldn't be used at night too dangerous... |

| Oct. 1, 2016 pizzaboy 78 posts | 77 you lost me when you said all fields at Shadowrock are good!!!If you think field 1-2 are good softball fields I question your knowledge about what a good softball field is.I've been playing Senior Softball since 2001 and those are the worst outfields I've ever played on.I played in Morgantown,Wva and those outfields are terrible but fields 1-2 are worse! |

I stated that we played on Fields 3 & 4 only. By anyone's standard they are more than adequate, in Fact they are Good. Now, Fields 1&2 are Bad !If they are not the worst fields I have ever played on, they are damn close. Played on Fields 1&2 a few years back they were horrible and still are. So I hope I cleared the air re: my comments. We are in agreement re: Fields 1&2. Rest Easy, glad you gave me a chance to clarify. Tomar |

The best complex we had (Sports Park) was sold to a school district. We seniors play on arguably the worst fields in San Antonio (Normoyl). |

We played 6 games there on three of the four fields... worst thing I had seen there was the first base bag wasn't set correctly... very loose and not all the way down. other than that the park wasn't that bad IMO.. the turf field were hard as a rock if you decided to dive in the OF it would a very hard landing... |
