Expected Tentative Field Assignments for Winter Worlds Phoenix
Good morning and first I do not want to beat a dead horse here but I am trying to understand how the Winter Nationals in FL had tentative field assignments almost a month before play started (Oct 6th) and the Winter Worlds will not have their field assignments until after close of registration on Oct 25th?
Just trying to understand the process and thanks in advance

The Winter National (FL) has used 3 complexes in the older age groups for at least the past 8 yrs. Park makeup and anticipated team numbers by age / rating are pretty similar from year to year.

That isn't necessarily the case with the Winter World (AZ). In fact, SSUSA had to pick up a 3rd park last year to cover increased demand for the older groups. This year, they are probably waiting until they get more accurate numbers before projecting field assignments.

They are in a lose - lose situation here. If SSUSA doesn't project parks 30 days in advance they are scrutinized. If SSUSA projects early, but inaccurately they are crucified.

NYGNYY ... Tim speaks the truth ... We (unfortunately) bowed to the incessant phone calls, text messages and emails and went ahead and made some educated early guesses for field assignments at the Winter Nationals ... It was a poor decision since the data was insufficient to do so effectively ... Of course, when we had to adjust the locations, the "noise" actually got worse, not better! ...

The deadline for Winter World's entries is Tuesday, and shortly thereafter we will publish tentative field assignments ... There are changes this year, probably adding another facility in Peoria, the 40-Masters going to a 3-day format instead of the weekend only and we may not require Big League Dreams in Gilbert on Friday ... The wise move is to wait a few more days for the sake of a higher probability of accuracy ... For the people making the repetitive inquiries, it usually comes down to not being able to discern between the time they may "want" something as opposed to the time they actually "need" it ... Patience will be rewarded! ... Thanks and good luck!

Maybe most of those wanting field assignments are trying to book a hotel fairly close.

That's another excellent reason to exercise patience. We got blasted recently by a couple mangers who didn't and ended up in the wrong city for the Winter National's. A totally unacceptable reaction in our view.

Gentlemen, This is always a tough issue for both sides. Over the past 5 or so years I have come up with my own solution. One I am sure others have found as well. I personall prefer to book rooms in advance by several months. I have found the prices are cheaper than when the date of an event is scheduled. as for places like Phoenix and Vegas. I book a couple of rooms on opposite sides of town. In Phoenix its usually Scottsdale and Phoenix close enough to Rose Mofford and Desert West. Vegas is usually Henderson and The Strip. You have plenty of time to cancel the room you don't need. Works for me but that's just my 2-cents.

With one day left before the entry deadline, entries have already raced past last year's tournament record (178) and 195-200 teams is achievable ... We will activate the Teams Tab List from the tournament page at 5:00 PM Tuesday, call the three singleton teams and the entered but unpaid teams early tomorrow ... That will tie down the total entries and slotting them into specific facilities will follow shortly thereafter ... Thanks for your continued patience! ...

Any chance that the Women's 40 Major and the 50's could be at the same location? Just wondering for those trying to participate in both divisions of this wonderful game! Thanks so much in advance if there is any way to make this possible!

The entry deadline for the Winter World Championships has passed ... We have activated the Participating Teams Tab showing the 200 teams currently entered ... That number is a new tournament record (2015: 178) and ties the event with Rock 'n Reno as the second largest of calendar year 2016, trailing only the World Masters Championships (564) ... This one should be fun to lay out!

JTeleven ... That's the current plan ... We'll try our best (no promises, yet) to make it happen that way ...
