Nov. 30, 2016 froggy11 Men's 75 6 posts | substitution Tournament game, tie game, extra inning, visiting team starts extra inning with the player that made the last out in the previous inning at second base. Courtesy runner is NOT allowed for the runner at second, understood. Umpire did not allow player substitution for the runner at second base. Umpire ruled substitution could not be made until runner advanced to third base. Mentioned to the umpire it was not a courtesy runner but a substitution. Umpire was not listening to my argument. Was this an error by the umpire? |

Nov. 30, 2016 SSUSA Staff 3467 posts | The umpire (and k man) nailed it ... There is one limited exception, but it comes with a price: If "that guy" can't or won't run, he is declared out and next previous last batter of the prior inning assumes the 2nd base spot ... |

Nov. 30, 2016 bond_171513 Men's 55 79 posts | Just curious about the wording on the original question..there is a difference between last out and last batter. It is the last "batter" - not the last "out" - correct? FYI - this came up in Phoenix and the FD and umpire both said last batter when the last "out" was the runner thrown out trying to advance on the last "batter's" hit. |
