Dec. 23, 2016 larryreg 21 posts | Texas info....Not good...Merry Xmas to all over these past years!! Merry Christmas to all the SSUSA staff.. I've known them for over 15yrs. Dave and his staff work really hard to do the best they can do.. sometimes it just doesn't work out right!! I don't agree with moving the Tx State Championships to El Paso.. Just way way to far..ETC, ETC. Austin was great. In the middle of the State.. Your going to lose a major amount of teams this year going to El Paso. CV tournaments are great.. Politics are just getting over the top. I don't see any other tournamentscheduled in Tx.. Why? This is also why our one day tournaments, our local tournaments around Austin are so fun to play!! We are seniors, and the expenses are killing a lot of us to travel this far for a limited amount of games!! I've done that for 20yrs plus.. Not bitching, just done that gig.. |

Dec. 23, 2016 TexasTransplant Men's 70 516 posts | Glad to see a tournament scheduled for North Texas once again. The problems teams have in planning their schedules for the year is that planned new tournaments frequently don't attract enough participants to justify being held and end up being cancelled or having such slim fields that they are less enjoyable. Many are reluctant to plan a season's schedule around new, unproven tournaments. I don't know a solution to this problem other than a lot of promotional effort by the organizers. Too bad we don't have a forum where teams could post their tentative schedules and compare to others in their age group. Then we could see where everyone is planning to play and coordinate schedules to increase the likelihood of good participation. Just to use a hypothetical example, let's say there is are tournaments in OKC, Tulsa, Dallas, and Hot Springs, AR in a three week period. Without coordination, each may find itself with divisions consisting of 2-3 teams. If managers could look at each others' planned schedule, they could coordinate and agree on one tournament and create a really good field of teams. |
