Liberty Park, Michigan closing
To those of you that played at Liberty Park in Sterling Heights, MI back in the day. I will miss it.

Liberty Park in Sterling Heights is being rezoned and will cease operations this spring. (Ray Skowronek--The Macomb Daily)

A softball haven for more than three decades will shut down this spring before players get a chance to swing a bat or throw a ball.
Liberty Park of America softball complex in Sterling Heights will close in March because the land owner is selling to a developer, contingent upon a rezoning approved by the city, according to the owner.
"I've had the park for a long time and never made any money," property owner Armen Kalaydjian said Tuesday. "It's time for a change.
"Unfortunately when you have clientele paying the same amount of money per year for the past 15 years, and labor and materials costs going up, you don't have much of a chance to make a lot of money."
The park announced on Facebook last week that it is closing at the end of March after its sports dome-sports season is complete.
