RECLASSIFYING A TEAM/AND OR PLAYERS
How does a team/players petition to get reclassified to a lower rating? Doc's/Ernie's/Schone's out of Ohio struggled last year playing 60 Major Plus (our first year as 60; played as 55 the years before)as we lost several players to age. Several of our players (5 or 6) were not 60 and won't be for a couple of years. The remaining players and new ones we picked up last year couldn't compete at the top level. As every team in the eastern US knows there are not many rated Major Plus teams. We would like to play at the major level to see how we fare. Any ideas how to petition for a team or players to get reclassified? I'm not the coach, just a player wondering if Doc's doesn't field a team what are the remaining players options. Thanks.

I believe you guys(Players) are stuck with your rating.. the only way I heard of, is if you have a medical exception that clearly makes a player much less of a player than their rating suggests.. Not that easy to do. As for whole team, you can play at your current rating and then petition based on your competitiveness at that level.. you should call the main office and discuss your options.. My team was reclassified back to major once.. We didn't complain but took our shot and followed the process. We are back in Major plus again.

I think swing is correct for this discussion. For sake of illustration , if you are a player that has played on a Major Plus rated team, you carry that personal rating with you for 2 years. If you do not play in a SSUSA tournament during that time, you could still be rated Major Plus beyond that time period. If you play Major during that time period, you will be rated Major beginning anew the following season. The only way to get rerated during this time period, is to get a medical exemption. As a team, SSUSA usually gives you 3 tournaments. The results will determine your correct classification. If you lost most of your games by 5 runs or more, to teams in your same classification, you "might" have a chance of being rerated.

I don't think It would not be necessary for a player to get reclasified in order to play 60 Major. The "team makeup" is what supports the M+ rating. DOCS played 55M+ in 2015.You stated that you lost 5 or 6 players due to not yet being 60. So the remaining half of your "team makeup" that can play 60 are more than 3 and too many to play 60M because they all carry the 55M+ player rating. 60M+ is one rating class below 55M+ so as a team you have been allowed the one drop in classifcation.

Again not sure but,Individually and dependent on a teams makeup a 55M+ player could play 60M without being reclassified but he would still carry the 55M+ rating.

You may want to check out [Team Rating Index (R/I) • Player/Team Experience ratings chart PDF digital file] or even call the office.
The players in question have a rating of 8 as being 55 M+. 60 M would be a 6.
It states the player:
2. May play ONE R/I less than HIGHEST R/I as one of three
"out-of-rating" players allowed on that team's roster
3. May NOT play TWO R/I less without PRIOR approval by SSUSA
Home Office under GRANTED exception request.
