Feb. 15, 2017 softball4b Men's 70 1248 posts | Looking for a team to play for I am looking for a team. My rehab went outstanding and I feel confident that I can significantly contribute as a member of a competitive softball team. Anytime you come off major surgery it is only natural that managers would be hesitate to pick up a player not knowing if that player could help them in any significant way. Words are words and actions are facts. So here are the facts: Rated major by SSUSA and it is in writing. Healthier today than any time in the past 5 years. Lost 25 lbs., but when you are short and square, hard to tell. Stronger today than any time in the past 5 years. No knee pain, no swelling. I feel extremely confident that I will produce at a very high level, but only time will tell. I have not called teams because until I started hitting, I did not want to make commitments I could not keep. Until I was rerated, I was limited in what teams I could play with. The reality is; there are a lot of guys that can play catcher and DH so my options are limited at this late date, even though it is only Feb. What am I looking for? My primary team should be a 60 team. I only get two weeks of vacation and playing 65 exclusively would use all of those days almost immediately. I would like to play a couple of tournaments with a 65 team as long as it did not conflict with my primary team. I was going to come to the tournament this last weekend, but the weather put a damper on that idea. I am capable of and ready to play in March in Hemet. If a team wants a look see, fair enough. Vegas is the cut date and I would like to have a team by then. I do not care if the team is based in SoCal, NorCal, NV, or AZ. Playing great softball is the goal. Bottom-line: I would appreciate it, if you would think there is a team out there that would be a good fit for them and me. Please pass on my contact information. Softball4b@aol.com Thank you and see you on the ball field. Mike Adair |
Feb. 15, 2017 missouridave Men's 60 166 posts | Mike, Unfortunately our team is out of Missouri so we cannot pick you up. I have enjoyed your updates on your recovery from knee replacement surgery. I had mine replaced two years ago. Based on the rehab you are reporting you will eventually be able to do a lot more than you can today. I have always enjoyed your posts as you seem to have a lot of common sense which in general is lacking on most open forums like this. Best of luck in finding a team and based on what I have heard about your abilities you won't have any problem finding a good team. Hope to meet up with you at a tournament sometime. My team is Sports Image (Tubby's the last couple of years) and we are a 60 Major team. Dave Beckering |
Feb. 15, 2017 softball4b Men's 70 1248 posts | Thank you for the kind words and I am most excited about the improvement in my quality of life. The hardest thing to imagine is just how much pain you were dealing with until it is not there. Takes a while for the brain to catch up that there is no pain. Spent 12 years of my softball career in Missouri in the 70's and 80's. Back when your softball season would be over by the 2nd weekend in August if you did not make it out of district. |
Feb. 17, 2017 softball4b Men's 70 1248 posts | Thank you to those who contacted me. I will be playing in the 60 division with the Southwest Bandits from AZ. I forward to being back on the field and playing softball. See you soon. Mike Adair |
