rocky mountain championships
Hey all
just wondering what 40 mens teams plan on attending this tourney August 25,26,27?

My team from Tucson AZ want to go but are worried we spend extra team funds to get there and it turn out to be a 5 or 6 team 40s division.

We arent concerned of the caliber of teams just if ther will be a great turnout.

1st year 40s are allowed
no 40s teams registered from colorado
50s division was also small

So Whos going? and would you risk $2500.00 for one new tournament?

So its safe to say there are either

no 40s teams on here going to this event or
no 40s team has planned that far in advance.

So let me ask the 50s &60s guys....would you want your team to spend a big chunk of your team funds on this event given the stips?

HAT MAN... The more logical explanation is the second one you mention ... With the entry deadline 5½ months out (August 11th), most teams haven't considered the event, yet ... Typically, we receive 70% or so of entries for any event in the last 10 days before the deadline ... It's awfully early to draw meaningful conclusions in February for a late August event that is well run and well attended every year at an outstanding facility ...

Not too many 40 teams post on this site. usually just us older more mature guys.

I can tell you my 40 or 50 teams aren't going. As in any tournament you gamble on how many teams in your classification will show up.

I really wanted to play in Mesquite this year but there are no teams in our classification so we cancelled.

You should just try asking teams next tournament or convincing a few teams to try an attend otherwise you may end up playing a two team tournament.

The 50 major plus teams try to communicate about tournaments at the beginning of the year so we know who will be playing where and when.

So to answer your question it's a crap shoot. you will be rolling the dice.

HatMan, our over 65 team from central Texas has gone the last five years, for my money best locations and field that we play at all year, beats the heck our of Vegas fields. Scrap Iron, along with SSUSA do a great job, this is were Western Nationals should be but that is a different story. Easy to fly to and get to the fields, and cheapest flights around.
