Game Times
Explanation is all I am looking for.

I am never one to complain, but we are playing in Palm Springs this weekend 40 Major+ and there are only 4 teams. Our game times are 8am & 9:30am, then we have to come back at Saturday night 5:30pm.

Games on Sunday do not start until 1:00pm. Please tell me you look at the bracket and say, teams are not going to be happy. I understand you may have contract deals with local hotels or other local sponsors, but you don't need to keep a 4 team bracket going all the way until 5:30 pm on a Sunday. It should be only a one day, but if you extend it to two days, let us finish up early. If we had 14 teams in our bracket, then I would expect to be playing late on Sunday.

Just my two cents. Anyone else feel the same?

SSUSA will you please respond with an explanation?

WCM#00 ... Simple explanation is a field allocations issue at BLD ... There are TWO organizations (SSUSA and Fire Dept.) sharing the facility for the weekend, dividing available game times 50/50 ... This makes for (unusually) tight scheduling that isn't going to please everyone ... Here's a suggestion for you to consider: Print the "Master Planning Grid" and play around with it to see what you can do to make it fit your desires .. The "grayed out" areas on the grid are unavailable times for us ... A couple of criteria to keep in mind ...
• All teams are playing three games each on Saturday, using only two fields for most of the day, but none should play three in a row ... We have only two fields available until 5:00 pm, but five fields thereafter;
• Teams should not have to play at 8:00 am AND 8:00 pm;
• Bracket for Majors is modified Single Elimination (another not so popular issue!), so bracket is deferred until Sunday so nobody gets eliminated in one day, and the earliest bracket could have started on Saturday (if we had to) would be 10:00 pm, with the completion of the first round with 11:30 pm games ...

This was a tough layout, but was about the best that could be done ... Hopefully, you'll have a better plan should we face such circumstances in the future ... Thanks and good luck! ...

Dave,

My apologies. My intentions were not to criticize the job you do or anyone else within the Senior Softball Staff. I know it is hard to please everyone and I appreciate all the hard work that is put into organizing tournaments. Sometimes the way someone expresses them-self in an email can be misunderstood.

If there is a next time I need to express myself, I will not be so anxious to hit the send button and instead, review my words.

Thank you again for all the hard work and see you out on the field!!!

WCM#00/Kevin ... No apology necessary! ... I/We occasionally solicit suggestions for improvement because nobody, present company included, is perfect ... In this particular event, we re-grouped and re-structured based on input from several teams ... We're good with that! ... Keep playing and commenting ... We appreciate it! ...
