Arroyo to Big League Dreams Friday Nite
If we are one of the lucky or unlucky 60AAA, (seeds 13 thru 20) teams to
play one(1) game and only one game(1) friday nite at big league dreams
do we have to pay full price of $5 or would it be $2.50?... Heck its only
one(1) game!!!!!

bummer.
Its crazy I never thought to look but just did. Just 1 age group 40s the BLD park will rake in $5,500.00 plus just in entry fees to the park just from the 40s mens.

I know this isnt SSUSA so not bashing but this is a nice chunk just to pass a gate.

Should I start making notes on which divisions would prefer to not be assigned to BLD in the future? ... With the tremendous volume of requests to play there, that would make it a little easier! ... [grins]

Whats really sad is the 60AAA(8 teams) only playing one(1) game there on
friday nite and have to pay full price, approx, players only, $520.00(13 per
team x 8)wife & girlfriends etc etc probably another $175.00 plus maybe more
depending on if they use the concession stand...TOTALLY RIDICULOUS!!!!...

If I know I'm playing the whole tournament there then $5 a day is fine but
just one(1) game at 5:30pm or 7pm and $5 gate fee alittle steep for 1.5/2 hours

sign me up to play any field you assign us to Dave. Many like BLD because its different but I can care less.I play in them so much it lost its allure. My issues with BLD company is the parks are not 300 feet. All that money and not even standard.
But find the bright side in each park....LV BLD serves jager

HAT MAN ... You are totally correct about the field dimension "quirks" which come with the peculiarities of the major league replica fields ... All fields in the BLD system start with a basic 300' footprint ... But they shrink down for things like the left field "green monster" at Fenway, the short right field porch at Yankee, etc. ... It's interesting to look at Google Earth imagery of the BLD sites ... Because of land utilization constraints, most, if not all of them, have Fenway and Yankee side by side to squeeze into a normally straight property line along Fenway LF and Yankee RF ... I'm traveling to Las Vegas later this morning and will be the lead Field Director at BLD Thursday through Sunday ... Please look me up and introduce yourself ... Enjoy your time there, play safely and good luck! ...

Seriously, I think some people would whine about free World Series tickets because they did not include airfare or they did not get to throw out the first pitch.

Pick a park and someone will complain as opposed to "Play Ball".

I am looking forward to playing softball against the best teams in the country, hell considering my health history, I am blessed to be playing.

SSUSA, Please move whatever team I/we are playing for to BLD. I will gladly pay the fee to not have to play on some of the other outlying fields

I'm thinking if you can't afford to pay the $5 then why are you even in Vegas? BLD is a business and has operating costs. Besides turf infields don't have bad hops that hit you in the face.

And Vinny I only come on this board to make fun of you....hahahah.

Good luck this weekend brother....

the only problem with BLD is field size..we all know it is nowhere near 300..would be a nice place if fields would be 300-325..to play M or M+ on those fields is sad.. Reid Miller p Team usa

OK nick ... Take away all of the suspense for us! ... Did you:

• Play your way out of the $5 "economic disaster group" by finishing in the top 12 (of 20) seeds? ... or
• Did you fall in the mid-range group that paid $5 to get in for the 5:30 games? ... or
• Did you get semi-lucky and play your way down to the 7:00 PM game when they were only charging $3, which is a whopping 40% off the regular gate fee? ...

This is too funny!

Here's a different perspective:

Older self-sponsored team carries 20 on roster and 16 show up for major tournament.
Entry fee for tournament is $595.
Being an older team, 11 wives and family members come along to support team at tournament.
Three day tournament in midweek.
All games at Big League Dreams park: entry fee each day is $5.00.

16 + 11 = 27 enter the BLD park. 27 x $5 = $135
$135 x 3 days = $405

The REAL entry fee for this tournament for this team is $1000.00!!!

Does your team sign up for a tournament that costs $1000?

Also: no food or drink (other than water) allowed in the BLD park for fans or players. Snack bar prices are higher than most (all) venues throughout the year.

Advantages for that tournament for older team:
Air conditioned central room with windows for between games.
Nice permanent fan seating (not always in the shade, however).
Interesting field configurations and smaller fields easier on old bodies.
Artificial turf in infield eliminates most bad hops.
Beer sold at the snack bar

Still, do you go for $1000 minimum cost?

Omar ... Your math may well be true if the base assumptions on the number of players, fans, etc. showing up are accurate ... But the initial post in this thread was about a one-time appearance at the end of the first day, and only the first day, apparently being an unreasonable $5 burden on the travel/tournament budget ... We have no say (or financial stake) in what any facility may charge for admission, including any BLD or Victory Lane in Phoenix, for example ... Should a team think that BLD is an unreasonable economic burden, all they have to do is say so on their entry invoice ... Every tournament we run in Las Vegas has a significant majority of teams expressing a desire to be assigned to BLD because they believe the experience to be worth it ... However, it certainly wouldn't be too much effort to remove from consideration any division that has a team making a "Opt-out-of-BLD" request ...

We played 3 days at BLD this week. I have always enjoyed it because it is different-unique. My only comment on it is that I played left field in a sandbox on several of the fields. I live in a desert area in Albuquerque and realize it is tough to maintain grass in this environment, but I don't believe throwing a few inches of sand on a (Large) worn spot is the answer, especially given the revenue we provide to play there.
Dave, your offer of a 'opt-out' of Big League dreams for the whole division is fantastic. Would you also offer that for Shadow Rock?

Now that's funny! In my opinion the condition of the fields is not worth $5 per day to play there. Double that if your spouse is with you.

Webbie25 and Dbax ... Your observations on OF conditions at BLD are valid .. As for the "Opt-out" option for Shadow Rock, I guess that's something we could look into if Clark County ever imposes a gate fee ... [grins]
