April 20, 2017 Tommy00 13 posts | Pitching rule Is it still required for the pitcher to show the ball before starting a pitching motion? USA softball now states that the pitcher must have the ball in front of them, while facing the batter / plate for 1 second before starting their pitching motion but no longer mentions showing the ball beforehand. Any help would be appreciated. |

The pitcher shall not be considered in the pitching position unless the catcher is in position to receive the pitch. B. The pitcher must take a position with at least one foot in contact with the pitcher's box. C. The pitcher must come to a full and complete stop with the ball in front of the body. The front of the body must face the batter. This position must be maintained at least one second before starting the pitch. |
