| April 22, 2017 CAT 200 posts | Need your honest opinion........ on the DUDLEY THUNDER ZN softball (.47 core, 450#compression)to be used in a competitive 60 and over league. Players range from early 60s to early 70s. NO pitching screen is used for play. thank you.... |
| April 23, 2017 TexasTransplant Men's 70 516 posts | No way I'm pitching in this league if you're using senior bats. I'd love to be a hitter, though. Sounds like a dangerous combination to me. Lots of fall off in reaction times from early 60's to early 70's (I've been there), but lots of guys in this age range can still mash the ball. |

| April 23, 2017 TexasTransplant Men's 70 516 posts | CAT, we hit Stadium balls three or four times a week in our BP sessions (not my choice, but one of the guys supplies them), believe me they are much hotter than what I hit in any league or tournament. I would guess that I get at least 20-25 feet more distance with the Stadium balls than with the 44/375's we use in most tournaments. I have HR power with the Stadium balls, whereas 280 would be a good shot for me with the 44's. Not only do they carry, they come off the bat hot. They're pretty hard on bats, too, for the big hitters. Not that any of this will make any difference to the guy who thinks he's Giancarlo Stanton because he can hit a HR with a hot ball and a senior bat. If you use them, tell your pitchers and infielders to armor up! |
| April 25, 2017 Tri18 352 posts | While your intentions might be to add a little fun on the offensive side of the game you should probably look at risk versus reward. With no pitching screen and a field comprised of older senior players I think your injury risk is too high. There are plenty of good 44/375 Softball's out there (including mine 😉) that would still be fun to hit but wouldn't create the potential injury risk you will have playing with stadium balls.
