Start-up Team
Possibly thinking of starting a 50+ team. There seems to be several guys looking for a team.
I am 52 y/o and located in NW Louisiana .... I have a few guys from this area that are interested. We could play anywhere in the south or Midwest.

sw0099 you may want to start at AA, I have played against some 50's AAA teams in Texas, and they are real good players. I think the guys from Louisiana were eating steroids, they were big, LOL. I know if you win a few tournaments you will be bumped up to AAA. I would be interested, but my wife will not let be play on a travel team.

Not sure you have a choice in this matter. As far as I know, all new teams start at the AAA level. After several tournaments, a review will be conducted. If you won all 3 tournaments, playing other AAA teams, and by a margin of 5+ runs, you may be moved up. If the reverse happens, you may be moved down.I suppose you could ask to be placed in Major or Major+ from the outset, especially if you have players rated as such. But most new teams start at the AAA level.

I take it the rules are different for 50s 60s etc then that of 40s???

In 40s all new teams have to start in major, play at least 3 qualifiers and then petition to ssusa to be dropped. Providing scores and teams played against.

You don't want to start out in 2A anyway, you will drive to tournaments only to play in a 3/4 team round robin. I've never understood why teams travel all the way to Vegas just to play in a 8 team tournament when they could play 1 level higher and play in a 60 team tournament.

I think L Martin so they can play at their level (going to Vegas). I played in a tournament with AAA teams and we even got a run each inning up to 5 innings and still lost all games. The first game I thought the guy was being nice when he said "if it is ok to you, we will be visitors". I thought wow what a great guy letting us be home team. Half way through the game I figure out not such a great guy. When we could not stop them every inning, only the 5 run max stop them, I figure out they just wanted to pile on runs in the buffet. Welcome to senior ball LOL.

I am not a homerun hitter but can place the ball. But if the outfield gets to close, I can put it over there head, just not over the fence. Maybe some players here do not like AA division, because I have seen some negativity towards that division sometimes. But it is a division where some people can still play. I can tell you right now, that if the AA division is not there, those teams would be folding if they had to play AAA teams all the time. I don't mind losing, but when you can't even stop a team, it is just no fun anymore. I would love to be on a AA level team.
