Thanks Chuck!-

You guys ran a great show this weekend. There was a significant rain event on Friday night / Saturday morning and you communicated pretty clearly with the teams about delays and revised start times / format.

It was great touching base with a number of friends from around the region and taking in some of what Syracuse has to offer (Syracuse Chiefs minor league baseball, the NY State Bluesfest and local restaurants).

See you soon- Tim

our team Custom Logo from Syracuse played in the finals of the 50AAA and we came upon a very silly situation....we were the winners of the losers bracket and were facing winner's bracket top team...we beat them and figured we would just go into the title game with both teams there, both umpires, all the fans and just play the title game....but no, we were told to move everybody to another field where teams were already playing and they were in a similar situation as us...except, if the loser bracket winner won their game, we would have to wait until THEIR game was decided.......I know it is difficult to run a tournament, but it seems weird that people in California are decided schedules 3000 mile away......we waited a good 75 minutes to play the final game and there was a lot of moving around by many people.....another major problem is that we have 6 teams in our bracket and in the 2 play in games we play a team from Syracuse and one from Rochester 90 minutes away from us......they should have a rule that you can't play anyone within a certain radius in play in games....we didn't even see some teams in our bracket but played 6 games and 5 were against a Syracuse team (2) and a Rochester team (3)....it would be nice to play against some teams we have never faced before.....just a few suggestions for future tourneys...otherwise a great weekend despite the rain and handles very well

Shark:
Nice job of getting games in and scores out with a 50+ turnout for the tournament.
Getting the results of eight division winners out the next day with one director proves a point:
If you have a tournament and tournament director who takes a genuine interest in his tournament and the teams attending, he will make the effort to get the results out quickly,'If not, you will wait until Hell freezes over for results.
I hope SSUSA teams take notice of your well run and team/player friendly tournament and pack the place in 2018.
Nice job and thanks for the results.

Hi Brian ... Take a look at the Master Grid for Syracuse and notice that we had eight "finals" yesterday on only five fields ... That required "stacking" them and sliding the "If" game over one field and down one time slot to allow the 55-AAA to begin at 12:30 PM rather than 2:00 PM (with a resultant 5:00 PM "If" for them) ... This was automatically a "50/50 approval-rating" decision I would make every time ... If you had won the "If" game, I would have been a hero for giving you the break to rest and get ready and the unbeaten team would have been upset for not getting to go back-to-back ... But you didn't, so they're the approval 50% group and you're the loyal opposition! ... It's always that way with 20-20 hindsight ...

And being in California 3,000 miles away is only an inconvenience for me, since it was 4:10 AM Saturday morning when my cell rang for the first time to develop the "recovery program" for the overnight rains ... Lastly, I'm solely responsible for who you played in seeding pool play (and second guessing me there is OK), but you are solely responsible for who you play in bracket play based on how you did in seeding as measured by the other teams' performance ...

Thanks Dave.....we won both our Play in games and were top seed.....we literally played the next 2 games against the 2 teams we played in the prelims......my only concern was when scheduling the prelims, directors should take into consideration that local teams play each other during regular season games and usually in tourneys that are close to their home....we had teams from mass, ct, pa , ohio, Canada and other farther places that we don't play very much and didn't get to do in this tournament either...we like to play teams from all over so we get to see what the rest of the world has and meet different people.....thanks for listening

No problem Brian ... I looked to see the composition of the teams and the states they came from and I simply blew it this time on the seeding game sequencing ... I didn't do a very good job on this, but hopefully won't repeat that mistake! ...

Thanks HO for the kind words about me posting the tourney results. I am hopeful that in the near future SSUSA will be able to post tourney results in a timely fashion. In this age of technology there should be an accurate and swift way to accomplish this.

The ISSA website is great at updating the scores and the games in timely manner. Shark is right about using technology and it's something that SSUSA should consider sooner rather then never...
