Changing Teams
SSUSA wondering if you could help me on my question, seems that two players off of Houston Fire left there to play on EL Paso drillers in the Texas State tournament then were allowed to go back and play for Houston Fire at the western nationals, i thought that once you quit a team and joined another you couldn't go back to any team ?

Larry ... Absent any specifics as to the players' names, we presume you may be referring to the two players who were granted an advance one-time exemption to play with the Drillers in the Texas State Championships ... This allowed the Drillers to have enough players to participate and they did so on the condition that they play 60-Major, rather than 60-AAA, in the event ... This is not an uncommon occurrence ...

Okay that answers my question I didn't know that the rules had changed that players could flip flop back and forth from team to team, for since the drillers were majors in this tournament and Houston fire is a major team I thought that would prevent the players from returning, it's nice to know if our team ever needs a couple of players we can pickup some to improve our changes in a tournament, and then those players can go back to there old team,or visa versa.

The rules haven't changed as you infer ... There is a procedural mechanism that allows teams who meet very specific criteria to apply for exemption players to achieve a minimum of participating roster players ... Also, any player who is an "exemption player" may not do so, regardless of the teams, more than one time annually ... This isn't a mercenary type "..have glove, will travel.." type thing ... If you think your may be in a similar situation sometime down the line, call the Sacramento Office to inquire about your options ...
