75+ age rule question for 2018
2018  Season,  75+  teams  may  draw  up  to  five
underage players, all of whom must be 74 year old.
Can the 74 player turn 74 in 2018?

Whatever age you turn on your birthday in 2018 is your playing age for 2018. So the answer would be yes.

I think the rule changed just this year I think you can have 7 underage players. 3-73 year olds and 4-74 olds on a 75 roster. SSUSA is trying to strengthen the older age groups. They also are going to look at it at the end of the season and possibly roll down the 73 year age group. I haven't seen anyone advantage of this new rule. However, that could really change next year. You will find that rule being very much used, especially if the 73 year olds are left intact.

Larry S had it right, as curveball confirmed ...

NOTE: Effective with the 2018 Season, 75+ teams may draw up to five underage players, all of whom must be 74 year olds.
2. Men’s 80+ age division teams may draw up to seven players aged 78 or 79, including not more than three 78 year olds.
3. Men's 85+ age division teams may draw up to ten players aged 83 or 84, including not more than five 83 year olds.

I didn't see for "2018 season". Good to know what's up for this coming season. Just my luck, I will turn 73 next year and we've been rolled out. I thought that might happen.

At the National Rules Committee meetings last year, we attempted to comply our 75's eligibility rule with that of SPA ... We mistakenly thought SPA allowed 73's, but they do not ... After learning that, it was inappropriate to mandate that 73's already on 2017 rosters for the Winter Nationals and Winter World's have to be released ... In a special telephone conference call meeting in January, the National Rules Committee set the rule for 2018 and beyond to avoid confusion ... Those 73's currently on 75+ rosters will be 74 in the 2018 Season, so there is no harm to them individually and we will be consistent with the SPA rules ...
