Sept. 22, 2017 Turbobob Men's 65 71 posts | Batter unable to complete his at-bat. I have looked over the 2017-18 rule book for this situation, but cannot come to a definitive answer, even without patching some of the rules together. Here's the scenarios: Batter has a 1-1 count, one out. He then fouls off the next pitch. As a result of his swing, he hurts his back and cannot continue his at-bat. Just wondering how the termination of this at-bat is handled in tournaments, which use substitutes. 1) If a substitute player was available, could the substitute step up and resume the at-bat with the count now 1-2? 2) If no substitutes were available, would the at-bat terminate with the batter being called out? I've also seen the rules for batting order situations, but not one for the current at-bat situation. |

Or, the batter could just stand at the plate and not swing? Try to get the walk and a CR when he reaches 1st base if there is one available. |
