DAVE & BENJI4 READ WHAT OTHER WOMEN TEAMS THINK ABOUT THIS PARK.
YOU POSTED THE SUNSET PARK FOR ALL THE WOMEN GAMES. SO NOW YOU ALL CHANGED IT TO A VERY BAD AREA AND IT'S FARTHER AWAY FROM VEGAS, SO WHY DIDN'T YOU PUT THE MEN'S TEAM OUT THERE AND KEEP YOUR WOMEN SAFE. AND BY BEING A DIRECTOR YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT, PLUS THE DISTANCE,HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION AND TRAFFIC ON A WORK DAY. YOU HAD THE WOMEN PLAY AT NIGHT LAST YEAR IN THIS TOURNAMENT.
The only bummer was when a couple kids stole the money lock box and ran away with the concessions earnings. Not good. Also, there were break ins
down in the parking lot, so lock everything. Also, you are not close to many restaurants or convenience stores, so bring plenty to eat/drink.

Ms.Dee ... Here's an excerpt on point from another thread, one I referred you to previously, but maybe you didn't read ... Your division is STILL scheduled for Hollywood Park and that will NOT be changing ... Good luck! ...
__________

TENTATIVE (which means subject to CHANGE and NOT final) field assignments are based on prior history of team attendance and are simply guesses until all of the entry deadlines pass ... The 2017 World Masters far exceeded our expectations for attendance, crushing the prior record (564) with 612 teams ... Our projections were based on a modest 3% increase over last year, to about 575 teams ... The growth rate was in fact almost three times that (8½ percent) .. So, as for what exactly necessitated changes to the TENTATIVE field assignments this year ...

• Men's 40-Major grew unexpectedly to 44 teams ... The general rule of thumb is that a facility, with Local League restrictions present, can handle six teams per field, without having to resort to Midnight Madness type Saturday scheduling ... Big League Dreams could not handle the 40-Majors, and the only place that could was the combination of Desert Breeze and Sunset Park ...
• Men's 40-Major Plus was then slotted into Arroyo Grande because, with 21 teams, they almost fit there on Friday .. Henderson allows us no more than 20 games slots on Friday, so I had to split some of their seeding games over to Sunset with half of the 40-Majors ... 40-Major Plus is unsuited to both Shadow Rock/Hollywood and Big League Dreams because of severe restrictions on their ability to retrieve home run balls ...
• The Women's 40-AAA, 40-AAA and Senior Women 50+ were then relocated to the 7-field combination at Shadow Rock and Hollywood because they fit comfortably to avoid late nights on Friday and Saturday, and that allowed us to bring all Women's divisions into Big League Dreams for the Sunday Finals ...
• The last two divisions, the Men's 40-AAA (18) and Women's 40-Major (9) were (luckily) the only logical fit at BLD at 27 teams, because we lose two time slots from the theoretical maximum on Friday at BLD of 30 due to Opening Ceremonies and the honoring of the Guam Teams with the SSUSA Sportsmanship Award ceremony ...

It fits, but barely ... The global schedule this year was 1,995 games ... Good luck everyone! ...

I have played at every park in Las Vegas at one time or another during my 32 years of playing softball. Vehicle break-ins occur anywhere not just in those neighborhoods you deem bad. Lock your car and don't leave anything visible in your vehicle.

A couple of kids stealing a box of cash hardly seems unsafe and really doesn't affect softball.

The fields are dirt with outfield grass just like all the other fields except for turf infields at BLD. The scheduler gave you a valid explanation.

And no I am not a rep or part of SSUSA. Just a player who has been lucky enough to play the last 4 years on the best 50 major plus teams.

Good luck this weekend.

Ms Dee,

You were moved to those fields to "avoid" the late night games you complained about. Sorry but TENTATIVE" MEANS JUST THAT - CAN/MAY BE CHANGED!
I book rooms for my team & take my chances. Sometimes we have had to travel from Boulder Station to Desert Breeze which is by far the longest drive. You adjust so that you are there before your scheduled game time! And guess what, you still get to play!!! And by the way there are places eat/get stuff close to those fields. Yes nearer to Shadow than Hollywood, but not far.
Hope you can put this behind you & enjoy being able to play softball. I know at 70+, I do!!
My truck was gone through while at BLD last week, I might have left it open, but someone was going through looking for things!

GOOD LUCK!

I love it..... 2017 treat us equal treat us equal... well unless we dont like the treatment then we will play the "we are women" card. Its crazy how these car thieves are able to figure out the sex of the car owner isnt it.

Say what you will but no one deserves special treatment, just like when some major plus teams were assigned to the sheetier fields one year to mid tourney changes due to city and park problems. Its all part of the game.

I was the original poster of the cash box theft comment. This is fact did happen at Hollywood (spring worlds this year), but ultimately it was just a couple of High School punks who just got out of school nearby that thought they could get away with it. A couple senior players chased one of them down and he was taken away in a patrol car. It was nothing that would have made me feel unsafe personally and it happened in the middle of the day when the kids just got out of school.

The hollywood park neighborhood is not really a problem. In fact, I live here in Vegas and it's a much better neighborhood than BLD, Lorenzi and others. I would feel much safer at Hollywood and shadow rock than many other places seniors play. The advice about locking your car and leaving valuables out of site is good advice for any of the parks because it can happen anywhere you play.

I have seen so many comments over the years about field conditions and people upset they don't get to play at BLD, etc. The truth is all the fields have improved. Shadow rock is looking better, Hollywood has a new look (way better than before), and all are playable. This sounds like past comments (men and women) who feel slighted they are not scheduled to play at BLD or haven't played there in a while, but then again I am not a woman and not familiar with all of their concerns and challenges feeling safe.

Let's be happy we can be a part of such a great tourney no matter where we are assigned to play.
