Dec. 6, 2017 lemons Men's 65 323 posts | The passing of Steve Meek (Meeker) Many of us in Indianapolis were saddened by the passing of Steve Meek. By the time of his death, most of the senior softball players in Indy and a few of the surrounding states had played with Steve. Prayers to his family and friends. |
Dec. 6, 2017 Mr. Mechanic Men's 70 4 posts | I was fortunate enough to spend time with Steve this summer. He always had stories and tales about the game he loved and played. Being another left-hander, I listened and laughed at his stories he told, and like many of you, I was in some of them. He played for at lot of teams. RIP Meeker - #2 Roger Mynatt Indy 70's |

Jan. 24, 2018 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | I cannot believe that he is gone. I only learned of it today thanks to SSUSA. He, Coachie, and I were the best of friends, and he is the reason that our team won a national championship. I will never forget that I saw the look on his face when that pitch came in. He was older than our guys, and the outfield pulled in. He smacked it hard. Back then it was before he had his knees done, and he was very bow legged. Somehow he made it to 3rd and tied the game. I had the scorebook in one hand and put my other hand on Coachie's arm. I was afraid to breath, but I knew that we were going to win that game. He tied it up and got his courtesy runner. I know that he and Coachie are playing today. Anyway, I love you, Steve, and it saddens me to think of him gone, but I know that you and Coachie have the best major plus team in Heaven. I hope that you still need a scorekeeper and fan when I get there. |
Jan. 27, 2018 Reggie4's 30 posts | Steve Meekwe played his last days with the FOG. Hope thats not an Omen. Has anyone put anything on the board about Butch Drake. Last I heard the guys had contributed enough to get him on the list for a double lung transplant. Steve Imlay should be kept in the loop. They were a duo back in the day. |
Jan. 27, 2018 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | Butch told me that he was put on the transplant list Monday. They told him that it could be a day or a year. He and Coachie were best friends, and Butch and Jill have been very important in helping me get through my loss. |
Feb. 2, 2018 StevenL.Imlay Men's 60 174 posts | Meeker was a great player and person, he will be missed. He found a bat I use to use and mailed it to me, that was just the type of person he was. Reggie4's thanks for thinking of me with Butch. I have been in touch with him and like all of us are praying for his surgery and look forward to see him back on the softball field. Ms. Nancy always a pleasure to hear from you. Appreciate you!! SLi |
