Speed up the game
I think that there is a lot of game time consumed by catchers that can't seam to catch a slow pitch softball. Any thoughts on how this could be improved?

Firestick, the problem is they can't catch in the air so who knows were it is going to bounce after hitting or not hitting the mat. Not like the old days were you wanted to hit the glove, now you are at the mercy of the ground which is in who knows what shape. This is a product of the senior game and in most cases not the catcher fault.

ASA slowpitch does NOT allow stealing of 2nd or 3rd. In Modified fast pitch its allowed but not in slow pitch.

ASA also uses the 1-1 count which we have been used to until senior ball.

Sorry, must have been a local league rule.

What? You're saying this tongue in cheek, right?

If you're serious you are completely clueless. Have you ever actually looked at the plate and box? Guess what, it's not flat. Can you guess what happens when the ball hits the edge of a raised plate, mat, or turf (like at BLD)? It doesn't go straight! DUH!

AJC, ASA allowed stealing in 2005 I believe in the Regional and National tourneys. I think it was only for a year or two. Not really sure when they ended it.

Anybody ever play in Panama? They had a system that sped the game up with a full pitch count. There was an extension of the plate but it was made of wood. And if a pitch hit that it was an out. Fans loved it, pitchers loved it, and batters could foul off the first couple close ones if they chose. I liked it much better than one pitch.

ISA allows stealing but never heard of ASA allowing it.
