TOC Jerseys
How can the TOC in Florida run out of jerseys before the 2nd day of the tournament....I arrived to the Auburndale field on Thursday morning, went right to the Jersey/TShirt stand and the only sizes they had left were L,2XL and 3XL,last years version and sweatshirts,no XL available....was told to be back at the field the next day and they would have more....well was not the case.....went out there today,Sunday, talked to the Tournament directors there, and was told all of the inventory was gone....fod some of us this might be our 1st and last time participating in the TOC....so sad that the supply was so limited....

This seems to always be a problem. At worlds in Vegas they didn't even show at our field until Saturday then also had a limited supply and NO patches, which I'm still looking for one. If the supplier is worried about over supply at the end, then have a simple order form distributed with the team packets for those unable to buy one onsite.

Two separate environments here, so we'll take the easy one first ...

• Dorsey1 ... The tournament souvenir sales for the World Masters Championships in Las Vegas are handled by an independent third party vendor, Tournament Sports (from Arizona), who has been doing this event on our behalf for a couple decades ... We have no control over what they produce (subject to limited artwork approval), how much they produce or the manner by which they staff the multiple facilities ... They do, however, appear at the Manager Meeting for each session and let everyone know where they will be and when so that you may plan accordingly ...

• magsdad ... We normally order tournament shirts for between 2.5 and 3.0 times the number of teams in the event ... With 108 teams entered this year, that range was 270-324 shirts ... The actual order was 500 shirts, somewhere around 200 more that the "norm" ... That can only be characterized as "..so limited.." with the luxury of 20-20 hindsight ... Our initial order, based on history, was aggressive in the context of potential excess cost for potential unsold items ...

There were a couple of unexpected circumstances resulting in the sales volume running so quickly .. One team brought a traveling party of 58 people, all of whom attended the SSUSA All-Star Game on Wednesday night at Auburndale ... We're think every member of that group bought a shirt, and one individual purchased 17! ... That was after very brisk sales on Wednesday at the Hitting Instruction sessions ... Sales were, again, very strong during the Skills Competitions on Thursday... As the director at Auburndale, when we spoke I told you we hoped to have more shirts available, but that was dependent on what other facilities had available and was not a guarantee ... It turns out other facilities experienced similar sales demand ...

Sales were also influenced favorably by us giving away one prior year TOC shirt for each current year shirt purchased ... We did NOT sell prior year shirts, although we certainly could have! ... Although not a major point, we DID have three size XL shirts at Auburndale early Friday morning and we had all sizes of the TOC sweatshirts until the Louisville Slugger All-Star game Saturday night, where some, but not all, sizes sold out ...

If there is enough interest in post-tourney sales and we hear about it other than here, we may reorder and make mail-order sales available if quantity demand is worthwhile ... Please contact the office by phone at (916) 326.5303 or email (info@seniorsoftball.com) if that interests you ...

I was in Vegas for WMC and on the first day of the 50's tournament there was an extremely limited assortment of shirts available(that was on day 1 of the 50's), same as last year. I was unable to get a shirt either time, IMO they are doing a terrible job and you need to reevaluate who handles the tournament merchandise. Stop shifting the blame to 3rd parties, this is a continual problem.

Dorsey1, the one time that I called Tournament Sports right after the tournament, they batched mine with other requests, and I got my items. I think the key is to contact them promptly. This was my experience, and I was very happy with the outcome.
