| Feb. 17, 2018 The Colonel 10 posts | Softball cleats I’m in need of new softball cleats. My current 2014, Mizuno 9 spike erupts have seen better days. Theses shoes have been the best cleats have ever had. In looking at the new generation of Mizuno erupts, it appears there is more plastic and synthetic materials, and doesn’t appear to look as comfortable I prefer comfortable shoe with a rubber molded cleat like the old erupts. I live in the northwest, so the lightweight cleats that our available would not work for me. Does anyone have any recommendations. PS: I thought a pair of Boombah cleats and they lasted one year. |
| Feb. 17, 2018 BruceAZ Men's 70 155 posts | Colonel, you're right about the new Mizuno 9 spikes, I've worn them for years, they work for me here in Az with our hard infields but the new ones are made different and they're not as comfortable. I also tried a pair of Boombahs for a season and they did didn't last. |

They were specially ordered with the color and shoe style of my choice. They have served me well. They are very comfortable to wear and the bottoms have held up nicely. The nice thing about them is they wipe off very easily and are waterproof for most part. I ordered the mid-top. Those will keep your feet and socks a little drier if that is what you're looking to do. Go to the Adidas website and I think you can click on customized. |

| Feb. 19, 2018 Tri18 352 posts | Colonel, I carry both the Mizuno and New Balance cleats and turf shoes. Both of these lines have proven to be of good quality and comfortable over the years. The New Balance turfs have the advantage of coming in EE widths as well which seems to help a lot of us senior players. New Balance has long proven to be a shoe of great performance and stability and these are no different. You can call me at 561-718-7504 if you have specific questions. In reading through the reviews, most purchasers complained about sizing. Specifically, most recommendations were to purchase a larger size than you normally wear. Since I've worn an 11D softball shoe over the years, would you recommend going to a larger size in the New Balance 4040 model? Thank you. |
| July 22, 2018 OZ40 549 posts | From my experience, Boombah are the cheesiest softball shoes going. I bought a pair and they literally fell apart in a matter of months. Contacted the company and after jumping through every hoop they requested they basically said screw you. I will NEVER buy those again. Alan carries a nice selection of softball shoes and they are field tested by actual players. |
| July 22, 2018 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | I have a hard time with cleats because my little feet are wide. I like Tanels, but my feet are just too wide for them. I have had excellent luck with Boombahs. My last pair still wants to go to the ballpark even though they should have fallen completely apart by now, but I got a pair of SIS (Smash It Sports) this spring and am very happy with them. I definitely don't have Cinderella feet. |
| July 22, 2018 Stbetterton 20 posts | after trying about every shoe out there, I finally found a decent one for wide feet. they are the umpire shoes by new balance. I need a mid top shoe for support and these are light and provide good support and the fit is great I wear a 12EE. I bought a extra pair they were so good. |
| July 26, 2018 17Black Men's 60 414 posts | I've actually had very good results with Boombah over the years too. Never an issue. They ship FAST and I wear a 13------its one of the only models that fits my foot perfectly and is a true 13. |
| July 26, 2018 OZ40 549 posts | I had Boombah's before, never lasted more than a season. The last pair I bought (and will ever buy) split and shifted off the soles from April to July. Customer service was a joke, I contacted them, got a case number then sent them photos as they requested and was told the warranty (3mos.) had expired, I pointed out I bought them in April, but here in MI we don't use them until May, I asked if they could even pro-rate them and was told no. That's just bad business. It's not like I'm 20 and playing 5 nights a week and tournaments on weekends and run like a deer. I play in a daytime senior league and about 6 tournaments a year. I ask you, do these sound like a good shoe to you? |
| July 26, 2018 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | OZ40, it definitely sounds like you got a bad deal. I have had 3 or 4 pairs over the years, and I really like them. I have never had a problem; so I never had to deal with customer service. I will say that I am extremely happy with the SIS ones that I just got. I am pretty tough on mine; so we will see how they are on durability by the end of the year but so far so good. I have not even put a comfort insert in them which I usually do. They feel really good on my little feet. |
