St. George Lack Of Hotel Discounts - Spring Worlds.
It is unfortunate that St. George Hospitality is not appreciative of SSUSA and their Members spending their Money's in their Community. I am aware that they are 'very supportive of the October Event, Huntsman Senior Olympics. I applaud them for their support in that regard. So we need to deal with what their decision is. That is, although St. George is and has been Supportive in regards to the Softball Fields, (which are Very Good), their Local Businesses do not seem to understand the Po$itive impact that SSUSA Members and Family spend in their City.
With the above in mind, maybe,it would be feasible to start our Games at 9:30am or later to accommodate the Time Change and the Drive Time from Mesquite to St. George. Our Team has played in St. George the last 3 Tourney's, we get up around 4:30am in Mesquite to play a 8:00am Mountain Time Game ! This takes it's toll on a body. It is a hardship we should not have to endure. If we are not worthy of consideration by the Chamber Of Commerce of St. George. Then if it is doable can we start our Games LATER in St.George ? If so then I and my Teammates and the Git-R-Done Teams would gladly stay in Mesquite to Honor them for their Support and drive to St. George for our Games.
Respectfully Submitted for your Consideration, SSUSA and Fellow SSUSA Members,
Tommy

As a local resident of the St. G area for seven years I do not have that issue. What I've seen over the years is starting mid February, this area has many activities going on. All kinds of sporting tournaments from college women SB to youth SB, BB, and soccer. The 10 day Parade of Homes raps up this weekend. Early May is the Ironman 70.3 and later on the Women's Junior College SB championships. Many golfers visit over the Winter. Believe me, the businesses appreciate the visitors, so it could be a supply and demand issue.

A teammate of mine told me about Booking.com. Here is what I pulled up for St. G from the 19th to check out on the 22nd.

https://www.booking.com/searchresults.html?label=gen173nr-1FCAEoggJCAlhYSDNYBHIFdXNfdXSIAQGYATHCAQNhYm7IARTYAQHoAQH4AQKSAgF5qAIE&sid=7603a9f52f1356d8d4a2a0d7d260cba7&checkin_month=3&checkin_monthday=19&checkin_year=2018&checkout_month=3&checkout_monthday=22&checkout_year=2018&city=20079049&class_interval=1&dest_id=20133950&dest_type=city&dtdisc=0&from_sf=1&group_adults=2&group_children=0&inac=0&index_postcard=0&label_click=undef&no_rooms=1&postcard=0&raw_dest_type=city&room1=A%2CA&sb_price_type=total&search_selected=1&src_elem=sb&ss=St.%20George%2C%20Utah%2C%20USA&ss_all=0&ss_raw=St.%20geo&ssb=empty&sshis=0&ssne_untouched=Hawthorne&order=price

I searched the lowest price. Three nights for $150 and less ain't bad. For those who RV out there, that might be something to consider.

Good luck to all.

Tomar, that's the same problem we have when we venture into California. Prices of everything involved with travel to that state are off the chart.
Motels sky high, fuel prices perhaps highest in the nation.
Where the tournaments are located in CA, we don't have an option for inexpensive rooms like the Mesquite option is for you. I'd gladly take a beautiful 30 min.drive like the Mesquite/St. George drive for rooms in CA at Mesquite prices!

Getting off at exit 8 for Beaver Dam and on to Ivins, is a great 40 mile ride. The SB complex is a little over five miles once you leave Old Hwy 91 and Gubler is even closer.

The original ask is a good one. With the time change and travel times to/from Mesquite to Saint George, starting games at 9am MST seems like a reasonable request. Coming from Nevada myself, it would sure be nice if games started a little later than 8am.

The drive Diesel Dan suggests is pretty, but the games are being played at both Canyons and Little Valley (not Gubler) and Little Valley would easily be 1 hour away if you drive old HWY 91 and much easier to get to if you just stayed on I-15. Getting to Canyons from the route he suggested is fine.

Jon44 ... Take a look back at the Spring World's tournament schedules for previous years ... I have always started the game day, regardless of location, at the same "actual" time, normally 8:00 AM PST / 9:00 AM MST ...

Fastest way to LV from Mesquite is probably I15 through the Gorge, take exit 4, stay to the right, and LV is a few miles past the Pilot station.

DieselDan ... I've always stayed in Mesquite when I've been a Field Director at The Canyons Complex ... An alternative, and gorgeous, route to Mesquite from the complex is via Old Highway 91, west out the "back side" of the park and plugging into I-15 at Littlefield, AZ, about 8 miles from Mesquite ... Fun and relaxing drive through the Indian Reservation lands ... It's a must-experience in my view ...

Dave,

Could you split the link I posted above above on booking.com since, at least on my screen, it has caused all the posts to go way off my screen to the right and underneath several adds. Thanks.

Old highway 91 is a great ride from exit 8 to Ivins, especially when the sun hits the hills the right way.

Perfect!. Now Mr. IT guru, can you go back to that post and delete the whole pasted link? As long as it's in that post, many posts of others, I believe, extend into the woods. (Is there a way to go back to our posts to edit them? I sure haven't figured it out.)
