Spring Worlds Managers Meeting
My team is playing in St. George.
I am driving through Mesquite to a motel in St. George on the day of the managers meeting.
I read your note about the managers meeting, but is there the possibility that I, and others, can pick up our package during the day of the 19th and maybe have an early morning impromptu meeting at the Canyons before the first game for any changes?
It would save driving down to the meeting Monday night.

Also, kudos to SSUSA for giving the tentative field assignments this far in advance and the teams playing. Who knows, maybe having the game results on line daily is the next improvement.

I hope the 50 AAA teams get to play in St. George. I hear a lot of those teams have already made arrangements to stay there!!

Rangeview 85. Tentative field assignment's are on the link highlighted above. It looks like 50 AAA are playing in Mesquite at Pioneer Park.

bruiser ... If you can't make the manager meeting the evening before play commences, please arrive a little early on opening day to meet with the Field Director ... Also ensure that your roster is set before then since rosters "close" at the end of the manager meeting ... No changes are allowed the morning after ...

Rangeview85 ... The TENTATIVE field assignments were posted on Tuesday, 02/27/18 ... The 50-AAA are scheduled for Pioneer Park in Mesquite ... They played in St. George last year and we attempt to move things around from year to year to avoid repetition ...

I see the TENTATIVE, just hoping that would change and good to know that they get switched around. THX

Dave-- are they planning on using all three fields at Pioneer park? 1 of the fields clearly is a baseball field. Also, Little Valley was on the list on the tournament page as a venue, but not on the list of fields being used. It clearly is much better place than any of the Mesquite fields. What happened?

DD looks like 60 majors are playing at Hunter --just like last year.
I'm fine with it--it's great to be able to get out and play--- has SSUSA ever inquired into putting up temporary fence's on the BB field's in Mesquite....and since I am at it...are the new balls in play come March 23rd?

Jon44 ... We will schedule all three fields at both Mesquite facilities (see below) ... Mesquite is the tournament host city and we are required to fill Mesquite first, with "overflow" to St. George in priority order of The Canyons Complex then the Fields at Little Valley ... When (if) possible, open field slots will be the larger field at Hunter ... Assignments may change as the tournament grid takes shape over the next few days ...

NY˛ ... 60-M is at Hunter due to multiple teams requesting not to play in St. George ... Waiting on a bid for temporary fencing at Pioneer, but it's likely there ... Not going to happen at Hunter due to not being able to set stakes into the artificial turf outfields ... We will be ordering 18 cases of softballs this morning, and will either get them or not based on import status ...

Dave,

If the new balls are not available, can we use Rocks?

DD --just asking and don't kill the messenger but we been discussing this new ball for almost 4 months. Why would we wait until 3 weeks before the event and order the new ball? Just asking--that seems strange.

NY˛ ... No worries ... It's a fair question, probably caused by poor wording on my part previously! ... We delayed ordering from BSN for this tournament until the "last moment" in the hopes they would have received the new balls to ship our way ... It's very frustrating for us, too ... We made the ball spec. change and ordered accordingly in October, announced it at the convention on December 1st and have, for lack of a better description, been "..stuck on a slow boat from China since.." ... The Trump/Stote 44/375 (NOT "The Rock") will be used for Spring World's and should be perfectly fine at that altitude and cooler temperatures ...

NY˛ ... No sightings yet, but since the BSN corporate HQ is Dallas, TX, it will most likely be "Gulf Coast: Houston", hopefully in my lifetime! ...

Thanks for the update DD. Best chance we have at seeing this ball will be in Reno end of May. If it is still missing then please find another provider.
