Why so late
Staff, here we are March 5 and can't see names of team attending the Spring Nationals in Polk County, but out there in the wild, wild west, same tournament dates they have number of teams attending and field assignments.

I want to file discrimination against the Eastern seaboard. LOL.

You're not supposed to see them yet! ... Before you file that lawsuit, consider attending a remedial reading refresher course first! ... The published entry deadline for the Spring Nationals is this coming Friday:

Deadline: Entry fee payment must be received by: March 9, 2018 ...

Just like we did for the Spring World's, we'll publish shortly after the deadline ... The Western event had a three-week lead time on entries because of the size of the tournament (113 teams), but the Eastern event is considerable smaller ... Patience will be rewarded! ... Maybe ...

Thank you Dave, I knew you had the answer. LOL

By the way I am much better with my verbal skills, rather than read.

But, I will try harder next time.

No kidding! ... Why does it always sound better when I said it as opposed to when I think I typed it like I thought I wanted it to read??? ... Check back late-week or Saturday and Good Luck! ...

Is there a solution to this problem. The field assignment just came out, and as a 50 major team, we've been waiting to see where we would play, either Mesquite, or St. George, where we played the last 2-3 years. So we get a place in St. George, and then we find out we're in Mesquite. At this time, there's no rooms available in Mesquite, NONE. Even though St. George is a nice complex, there's just too much distance between there and Mesquite to drive if we pick the wrong place to play. If nothing changes, there will be at least 1 less team next year. Too much of a headache.

I'm saving Dave the trouble of typing this answer AGAIN.

nofear ... While you are not technically "wrong", you seem to have disregarded a fundamental component of every post we made for this event, specifically the definition of the word "TENTATIVE" ... As background, the players and managers start very early asking (demanding?) to know where they will be playing, weeks before the entry deadlines ... You anticipate certainty from us when there is no accurate data to support that level of confidence ... Ten days before this entry deadline, we had 39 teams officially entered ... In those last 10 days, we received an additional 74 entries, which is 65% of the total ... We occasionally have to make field assignment changes to balance games demand across all venues rather than having you play at 6:30 or 8:00 PM while fields are open at other facilities ...

We also believe that many folks who look at these posts go straight to their age/division and then click right out and are done with it ... Those who actually read the entire post, including the disclaimer/fine print, end up better informed ... You will likely notice a common "TENTATIVE" theme in each of our posts for the Spring World's when they are all in one place ... Good luck in the tournament! ...

tall_thunder ... You're in the wrong tourney thread, but I'll cover it here for efficiency ... Any request for the solution to a purported "problem" first requires its identification and source ... Here are the most likely, and quite simple, three contributors to your "problem" ...

You guessed wrong for your group ... It's unreasonable to expect complete accuracy on field assignments before the entry deadline ... Nearly two-thirds (76) of the 115 entries came in during the last 10 days before the deadline ... Although it's not your complaint, of the 19 brackets this year, 16 of them, including yours, are playing at the originally stated TENTATIVE Field Assignment ... That's an .842 "batting average", acceptable in most cases;
You don't appear (nor are you expected to) fully understand the field assignment logistics required to balance games demand with facility availability across multiple venues ... That's what I do ... This year there are 114 teams, and exactly 57 each are playing in Mesquite and St. George, respectively ... The schedule is very well-balanced by venue and by day ... We also try, when possible, to move teams to differing venues from year to year ... Reliance solely on where you played last year isn't always going to work ... In Mesquite, I also try to minimize the number of games, and maximize the number of individual teams playing only one seeding game each on the larger field at Hunter Park (there will be temporary 300' fencing at Pioneer);
• More savvy players sometimes book hotel reservations in both locations and when the TENTATIVE Field Assignments are known and/or final (17 days in advance for you this time), cancel one set before there is any financial detriment ... We don't advocate that approach because it creates unreliable data for our host hotels on how room blocks arranged for your convenience are filling, but for the few players with a self-imposed "compulsion" to do something early, it works .. Had you done that, your team would already have rooms in Mesquite and, theoretically, would have freed up some rooms for the teams that were relocated to St. George ...

We do hope you continue to participate in this long-term excellent event ... But if you happen to disagree with, or are unwilling to accept, the above analysis, we understand and maybe this tournament isn't for you ... Good luck!

No worries, Manny! ... Not the first time the complaint department has hijacked a thread from a different tournament! ... Will be releasing some information regarding your preferred event later today, Left Coast time ... Good luck!
