TOC determinations
How are tournaments classified as a TOC? In Texas, the only TOC will be the Texas State Championship (TSC) in El Paso this April. The consensus amongst my network is that not many Texas teams will travel to El Paso again this year for this tourney. Will SSUSA consider a better alternative for the coveted TOC? I opine that the Aggieland Classic or Heart of Texas will likely draw a more representative sample of Texas teams than the El Paso TSC. Last commentary, having the TSC in April is not when most teams hit their stride in Texas. I know April is ideal for El Paso because it’s less hot, but for the rest of the state we are barely into the season. You would think a “state championship” would represent a milestone for a season as an achievement. Having the April “Championship” in Texas is akin to spring training winners.

To answer your two questions: [1] The T.O.C. qualifier events are the major regional championships administered directly by the Sacramento Home Office of SSUSA ... They also include the Eastern & Western National Championships and the LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters Championships, but not the T.O.C. itself ... [2] Until any metropolitan area (or entity) other than El Paso expresses an interest in hosting the Texas State Championships, the alternatives will be limited, or non-existent ...

As a follow-up question, do the different Senior Softball organizations (SSUSA, SPA, ISSA, GSA, etc.) attempt to communicate with each other concerning tournament dates? In moving the Texas State Championships to early April this year, it fell on the same week as SPA's Salute to Military Veterans tournament in College Station (a very popular tournament here in Texas). I realize there are a limited number of potential tournament dates to be used for various reasons and that some times conflicts between the different organizations cannot be help. It just seems both tournament's turnout is hurt by being held at the same time.

TheScreamer5 ... For a long time, but not in the past 10± years, there was a casual organization known as the "Senior Softball Summit" comprised of the (then) nine entities offering Senior events ... They met annually for a few days ... Some of those organizations are out of the mix now, but at the time, schedule dates allocation and standardization of playing and eligibility rules were a focus of the group ... Unfortunately, the group fell apart as everybody evolved into doing their own thing ... Occasional conflicts will, and have, resulted ...
