Player classifications
When can a Major plus player eligible to play at a lower rating level? We have a new player, who moved to Florida, that played on a major plus team in the 65 age group. He is now 70 and playing on our team that's rated 70's AAA.

cheezhed1 ... Presuming the player aged up to 70+, he brings his rating history with him, which means the 65-Major+ converts to 70-Major+ ... Unless your team moves to 70-Major, and he is one of the three maximum allowed out-of-rating roster players, he is not eligible to join your team ... See Rulebook §13.1(1)A.3 on page 61 ...
__________

3. Major-Plus players may not compete on AAA or AA teams without written permission from SSUSA.

Just curious about how this scenario is along with what you wrote above Dave.
Would the player who aged up to 70 Major Plus be able to play 65AAA.
Going to the chart under rules, 70 Major+ rated 5 and 65 AAA rated 4, would player be 1 of 3 out of rating players as this seems contradictory to what is included in the rule or does this fall under the category of needing permission from SSUSA???

k man ... I think (glancing up) that cheezhed1 stated his team is rated 70-AAA ... The only mention of a 65+ team is in the player's experience history ... Obviously, 70-M+ is up "two clicks" from 70-AAA, thereby making him ineligible ... You would be correct if the cheezhed1 team was 65-AAA ...

Dave, mine was a hypothetical situation. Was wondering how that would play out.
Which part of mine would be correct:
a) he would be 1 of 3 out of rating players or
b) he would need permission of SSUSA

this situation actually may apply to us in a year or 2.
Thanks

k man ... Got it! ... A player with 70-M+ experience history has the same rating index as a player with 65-M history ... Both of those exceed the 65-AAA R/I by one index point ... As such, the 70-M+ guy would be one of the three allowed 'out-of-rating' guys, so long as he is otherwise eligible as to residency ... If the R/I's are the same, he can play with any team ... If they are off by one, he's in the "three count" calculation ... If they are off by two or more, he's ineligible for the lower R/I team ...
