April 17, 2018 KC_Baron Men's 60 19 posts | Best performing 44/375 softball The below question pertains to a non-sanctioned senior tournament where a team has to hit their own balls, but it must be 44/375. I would like to have opinions as to the best performing ball (out of all brands on the market) in 50-80 degree weather. |
April 17, 2018 mck71 Men's 60 344 posts | My opinion - AD Starr Tattoo. ISSA uses blue and SPA has switched to the black (I believe I heard Dave V say that, will know for sure in a few weeks). Assume some will tell you the Rock, hits well but I like the Tattoo better. Heard great things about Alan Tanner's ball but I haven't hit it so can't comment (believe it's supposed to be the same technology that the new SSUSA ball will have?). And no, haven't hit the new SSUSA ball yet, hopefully next month? :-) |
April 17, 2018 KC_Baron Men's 60 19 posts | Thank you for your comments. In my opinion the 44/375 ISA X-Rock balls are the best....better than the 44/375 ASA X-Rocks, but I would like to hear opinions from others as well. |
April 17, 2018 Turbo 34 Men's 50 47 posts | Definitely the X Rock! Only 44-375 better was the Dudley Thunder Advance. |
April 18, 2018 Fred S Men's 85 297 posts | I have to go with the Evil Micro-cell. Many people disagree but IMO a Leather covered ball outperforms the other covers. |
April 18, 2018 Fred S Men's 85 297 posts | My second choice would the Tattoo NX3's. I got some leftover test balls when they first came out a couple of years ago and they are still flying today. Choice to me comes down to dollar and cents. |
April 18, 2018 OZ40 549 posts | Our 55+ league started using Alan Tanner's Team 1 44/375 microcell balls last year. The previous year we used the 44/375 Tattoo. To a man, we prefer Alan's ball hands down, so much so we are using them again this season. They hold up and hit better in summer heat, are livelier, they make a better sound of the bat and have a better feel. They are available at a great price too. Hands down the best league ball we've ever used. The only downside is homeruns were up last season as were batting averages :-) Alan's service is top rate too, I've received our 13 dozen league balls months ago, he placed his order for this year well in advance, they cleared customs and he got them to me quickly! As far as I know SSUSA is still waiting for their ship to in..... |
April 22, 2018 MDog002 3 posts | That ball used in Mesquite marked "SS" for Senior Special is a dumbed down ball and should not be used in tournament play. Our weekday leagues stopped using them due to that fact. Initially, it was a $$$ decision, because the balls were the most inexpensive (for a reason). We have gone to a standard ZULU ASA 375/44 which isn't a juiced XRock by any means, but it's a fair ball. SSUSA needs to adopt the same policy. The XROCK is an aberration, it's fun to hit and does fly, but it's not ball your going to use in your weekday league. So lets ask SSUSA to provide a DECENT ASA ball not the cheapest ball available. |
April 22, 2018 Jethro Men's 60 60 posts | Go with the ball that Alan Tanner sells. We love it. Our Crossville Tennessee Hitting Club loves it, our travel team loves it, guys That we have try out for teams here all love it! Holds up well. Btw, it is a really fair ball to hit for all players. Bombers get their bombs and the non bombers get some good gap, shots. Call Alan and tell. Him Jethro sent you. |
