New Softball for 2018
D2 we have been talking about this new ball for sometime. A half year +? The new ball is no where in sight for whatever reasons-- customs, China, the company you ordered them from and we can probably go on and on.
Why has SSUSA done nothing to figure this out. Your commitment to that sporting goods company seems greater then us players. You are well aware that as summer approaches those Trump's in your storage closet just suck. If it is a money thing---just call it out. I can take that response and live with it. I understand that. When the board of directors decided to change balls in 2018 they should have done the homework and researched who could best supply the new ball within the existing timeframes. The ball is available. It is called the Trump Evil Micro Cell at the correct compression #'s. What's the concern with purchasing that ball--which is already within our boarders?
Common sense just seems to be missing here and I can't understand why?

This would make an incredible CSI episode, don't you think? The case of the missing balls.... no one knows where they are, the ETA, or anything about them. I have found that in situations like this, the most logical explanation is usually the right one, and I am guessing there are quite a few old Trump Stote balls sitting in a warehouse in Sacramento somewhere and most businesses will exhaust the existing supply before introducing new product into the mix (FIFO, not LIFO).

I have come to the conclusion we will hit the old Stote ball in tournaments until we don't, and no post, vent session, etc will change that fact. This comes up over and over, and it seems like the boat must be lost in the Bermuda Triangle or re-routed to the Galapagos Islands or somewhere like that. Just plan on the old ball at the next tourney and be pleasantly surprised when the new ball finally makes an appearance.

I would have loved to see the new ball in play before the hot weather comes, and my hope is that will still be the case (the old ball was perfectly fine in St George/Mesquite in cooler weather), but either way I will enjoy every chance to play and try not to be bothered when I see the old ball. The truth is both teams have to hit it, so go out there and try to have fun!

Right now we all we have is HYPE and conversation. No ball will be better than "the ROCK". Rather than "recreating the wheel". Not sure why we just didn't change Stote for ROCK.

I don't blame SSUSA but the if supplier does not come through they should order another ball that will perform better than the Stote so we can hit a good ball.
I do believe we deserve an answer very soon. Give the team the choice to supply there own ball if it is about trying to use up the old inventory.

You're not 10% as frustrated by this as we are, so here's what we're going to do. When we have a shipment of the new ball ON SITE at a tournament, we'll make that announcement. Until then we'll not have any comment that, no matter what it is, will prove to be inaccurate. Our good faith reliance on what we have been told to date has not been rewarded.

JON44 "the case of the missing balls", good one! I'm sure the double entendre is in order here!

D2---thanks for the reply. Not sure what to make of it other then we are stuck with what we've got and we will be playing with the Stote for the foreseeable future. Being one of the largest SS organizations in the world carries no weight with this supplier. I not sure who they are but I can tell you one thing---we should purchase another speck of dust from them. I'd shut them down completely. I am done with this topic. Thanks for listening.

I just got a message from Trump I'm receiving the new MCT balls this Wednesday 5/2. They are definitely back ordered as the amount of individuals/teams/organizations increases. I agree with Dave to use your existing Stote balls until they "arrive on site." I think it will be worth the wait. Patience grasshopper's.....

Used a STOTE 44/375 playing this weekend in FL and it was fantastic. Much better then the Trump and not as lively as the Rock. I hope this is the ball that we will be using somewhere down the road. Excellent ball and it only stated STOTE across the ball in large letters. jc11 any luck?

I was talking with a good friend of mine that knows a little bit about the softballs. The softballs you are waiting on are 44/375 core balls with Micro-cell technology. The one thing that is different is the cover. The cover is Synthetic. The insides are the same as the ISA Micro-cell Rock that you now use in the SSUSA in Vegas. The Trump Evil Micro Cell is made of a Leather cover. If it has Evil on it, then it is leather....The Stote balls are made of leather cover. The Trump/Stotes are synthetic with no Micro-cell technology. The heat effects them the most. That is why they play so terrible when it is hot out...I have looked at Alan Tanners Team 1 Sports balls. I wish I had an answer to help your Associaiton make the right decision.. Good Luck

We are going into our second full morning league season using Alan Tanner's 44/375 MicroCell balls, these have consistently performed the best of any ball we have ever used. Here in Michigan we get all the climate changes throughout the season from chilly cool morning to balmy humid dog days and I have noticed no marked difference in performance from this ball under the various conditions we use it in.

Thanks OZ40 for the feedback.

Our hope is that we get to play with this new ball in 2018.

Hi Fred, for SSUSA the official softball specification for 2018 is the BSN 44 cor 375 compression Micro‐Cell technology STOTE optic yellow softball.

Enviro---that is the ball we used in FL this past weekend. Great ball.
If it's available why haven't we seen it in any SSUSA tournament to date?
It clearly doesn't have anything to do with shipping issues. These were supposely order in early March.

I truly hope this ball replaces the turd Trump Stote ball in Florida Half Century league. They use their garbage ball for their tournaments and to add insult to injury they only use 1 or 2 new balls per game. They force the teams to pay the money for the entry fee and then teams can't even throw in a new ball or buy new balls to use. It's the worst of all worlds. I hope this message gets through to the commissioner and he sees that all other associations use a better ball and newer balls that teams can throw in

I think if the new balls don't arrive soon they should buy a comparable ball from another source. It is getting warmer and the Stote we use now is turning to crap.

Thanks:

I am very happy to say that we played this weekend with the new Stote ball and it was great. It is very similar to the Tattoo and is a really good ball. Thanks to the director of FHC for switching to that ball, it was great.

Raider---it was the same ball we used a few weeks back at the Villages.

I thought the same at that time...great ball. The question is has the SSUSA received that ball and when will it be used? I was last told that we will see it when we see it at a SSUSA tournament. To date no one on this board has said they've seen it at a tournament. I was hoping for Reno but I really believe until the trumps are gone from inventory we will continue to use them. Just my opinion that is a business decision.

Possibly the new balls are finally arriving in the US. It would be good timing to start putting them into play.

We used this new ball in league last night and it is far better than the Stote. It was about 80 degrees and a little humid and the ball was still lively but not like a Rock.

Thanks SSUSA for this improvement to our game.

I am not sure where our local league got them but they are a nice upgrade. SSUSA should be getting them into tournaments very soon (I would hope).

I am confused on this ball. I ordered a doz "Trump SSUSA12" Leather" ball from BSN (click on their ad on home page). Confirmation said that is what I am getting. When I opened the box they were STOTE AK-MC-SS's with a composite cover which I didn't want. The Invoice and packing slip said Trump SSUSA12 Leather. I got an email this morning requesting me to review product. I went to review the product to say I haven't used them yet and neither ball is listed anymore.
I am not sure what to do with these balls. Reason I wanted Leather cover is that a composite cover combined with Micro-Cell don't work very well in my Wheeler Dealer. For an example Alan's MCT softballs are great but they don't toss very well in my WD.

Fred the ak-mc-ss has been around since 2005, they are a synthetic version of the micro-cell not composite.
