Home plate mat size
What are the dimensions supposed to be for the home plate mat?

Tony, you can find all dimensions in the rulebook which is online from this site under Tounaments. All dimensions are in the back of the rulebook. The strike zone mat is on page 78 and is 34.5" by 19".

Tony, that is fine. The nice thing about SSUSA is that they make a lot of information easy to access. I just wanted to make sure that you knew that the tools were here.

Our 55+ senior league uses a 2' x 3' board with rounded corners. It may be a slight advantage to the pitcher but we use the full count.

Interestingly, the SPA rulebook shows their mat to be 35" x 21"; two inches wider than the SSUSA mat.

I don't know if it was my imagination but it seemed the strike mat at BLD in Vegas for 40's was the exact width of the plate. Not 2 inches wider. Again..... this could have been my imagination.

marcster13 ..you weren't imagining it....they were smaller...i heard they had to use the bld mats.....our texas ssusa rep seems to think its ok to use the plate wide mat instead of the regulation (rules stipulated) mat....instead of breaking down and getting regulation size mats.....he just laughs it off......when asked....

Imagination is proving unreliable here ... They were the official standard size of 34½" deep by 19" wide ... Early on Tuesday (ONLY), BLD was unable to locate our mats, which we leave with them year-round ... The Maintenance Director was sick that day, but a phone call to him and a quick cruise to the maintenance shed revealed our mats and they were used for 5½ of the 6 days ...
