| May 22, 2018 jolly52 Men's 60 53 posts | Back Surgery pro's & con's Guys need some input here...My lower back has been hurting on and off for about a year... thought it was just getting old... it would hurt for a week and I would just play through it... and it would eventually go away or that's what I thought... 2 months ago it went out in a game and that was it... walk off the field during the game never done that before had a lot of injury's but always manage to play through them... last 2 months have been lets just say my worst nightmare... I have a pinched nerve that goes from my lower back down through the hip into the knee... So after numerous office visits and doctors with xrays and MRI verdict is surgery bone on bone in 1 disc and pinched nerve that won't go away without some type of surgery... I am asking for anyone out there to chime in with there experience or knowledge on this as I would like to know options... biggest milestone in 2 months has been going to Wal Mart and walking around.. life as I knew it is on hold.... thanks John |

| May 23, 2018 Lecak Men's 60 1026 posts | John obviously clear any info with your doctor. 10 years ago I was 6 weeks out with a scheduled back surgery, I was having horrible spasms that would knock me down for a week at a time. Just getting out of my car was a job in itself. I badgered my doctors for one last Hail Mary. She sent me to a Rehab clinic that specialized in Pilates. 10 years later my back feels better than ever. Check with your doctor. If your Doctor agrees I would recommend a rehab clinic that uses Pilates as physical therapy for orthopedic rehabilitation. There are a lot of people who practice who don’t work with injuries. Good luck with your back I feel your pain. |
| May 24, 2018 KC_Baron Men's 60 19 posts | Research radio frequency nerve ablation. Basically it kills the nerves in each of the facet joints on both sides of a disk. I have it done on 3 disks (L3-5) at the same time. I get about 12 months of pain free activity before the nerves regenerate and the pain starts to come back and then I have it done again. I've been doing it for the last 10 years and holding off having disk replacement surgery as long as I can. |
