You may order Homeplate mats from this web site... www.softballstrikezonemat.com If you have any questions you may call Mike at 850-572-4056
Just a bit of heads-up advice if you use these folks ... The dimensions in the product drop-down box for ordering SSUSA mats does not match our official size specification of 19" x 34½" ... Whether or not the product actually matches our official spec. is unknown ... Also, the 1/8" thickness is very thin, may not have long term durability and is more likely to slide around rather than stay in place ... The 1/4" mat, at $59.95, is a better option but not nearly as affordable as the ones we order from Sacramento Rubber ...
Plus, a thin mat is more likely to have moguls as it conforms to the dirt under it. Always felt a piece of plywood, with a "V" cut to slide up to the regular plate was a good option. It takes away the arguments about whether the ball got more dirt or the rubber plate and you sure can hear the ball hit the plywood.
To SSUSA Staff: How can I order strike mats from Sacramento Rubber, or is it possible to order through SSUSA?
I think someone needs to make mats that light up when hit. In league and SSUSA I've seen many umps call a strike when the ball actually hits the dirt. Lots of day dreaming going on back there. Lol
marcster .. do you mean “Close” only counts in horseshoes
Doc22 ... Either way works ... Might be a bit easier if you call the SSUSA office at (916) 326.5303 and ask for Stephanie ... She orders on behalf of SSUSA and others frequently and might have a suggestion on a specific person to talk with at Sacramento Rubber ...
B.J.- I've heard of "horseshoes & hand grenades" but maybe it should be "horseshoes, hand grenades and strikes"
YOU CAN MAKE A WHOLE BUNCH OF MATS FROM JUST ONE WORKOUT MAT !!!! $ 59.95 FOR ONE IS A LITTLE GOOFY TO ME!!!!
