Double bag at First

The batter has hit a ground ball and is running down the baseline towards first base...when a play is being made at 1st base, and the throw pulls the defensive first baseman and she is now blocking the outside bag...can the batter running down the line to first base hit the inside bag to avoid a collision and be safe?

This happened twice tonight in our league and both times the batter was called out....

How do you call it🤔

yes.. in fact to avoid a collision the runner can miss both bags and do a run by.. then it's the umpires judgement whether the runner reached the bag before the throw..

8.7(4) • AVOIDING COLLISIONS
A runner must make every effort to avoid colliding with opposing players while running the bases. If, in the umpire’s judgment, a runner misses a base to avoid a collision with a defensive player, the runner will not be called out. (See §8.6.)

Umpire's judgement but runner should be safe if trying to avoid collision and touches inside bag. SSUSA rule 8.4(1)
