June 14, 2018 CallaVett Men's 50 61 posts | Return to playing after pulmonary embolism (PE) I had a PE in February and haven't been cleared to play, yet. Has anyone else had a PE and returned? How long were you out? What should I expect? Thanks Steve |
June 17, 2018 k man Men's 65 326 posts | Steve, fractured my arm at Winter Nationals, and a week after returning home, was in hospital with PE in each lung and DVT in right calf. In hospital for 9 days. Currently on Xarelto. I have sporadically filled in over the last month due to shortage of players, even filled in at CT Masters yesterday due to injured player and no other reserve (only batted). Right now, not hampered by PE/DVT. It's the fracture that is preventing my full time return. I would assume you are on some type of blood thinner and depending on the position you play, need to be careful of hard hit balls with the senior bats to prevent bleeding/bruising. Make sure you get clearance from Cardiologist and good luck! |
June 18, 2018 CallaVett Men's 50 61 posts | Thanks for the reply, I still haven't been cleared to play, my PE was classified as unprevoked (no DVT was found). I was told not to play while on the blood thinner (Apixaban - Eliquis). I did have a CT on Friday which showed the clots have cleared. Normally, I'm an outfielder but I do play infield, also. I'll probable work my way back as an EH and getting a CR. I know the big concerns is being hit by the ball and a collision with another player or the fence. Thanks Steve |
