Another what's the correct call
One out bases full, batter pops up in front of the plate, umpire calls "infield fly, batter is out if fair". Batter starts running anyway and bumps catcher who is going for the ball (probably to make sure it remains fair), play becomes scrambled ball bounds away and runner from third scores. Since the batter is already declared out why would he run? Subsequently the catcher who finally corrals the ball throws out the runner from first trying for second base for the third out. Interference or incidental? I'm leaning toward interference and runner closest to home is declared out

oz.. if the HP umpire called IF then you are right the batter is out if the ball is fair.. as far as the contact with the catcher the B/R MUST avoid contact with a fielder trying to make a play.. and interference does not have to be intentional.. so in your scenario you started with 1 out.. batter is out on IF call for the 2nd out and then runner trying to advance to 2nd was thrown out for the 3rd out.. here is where it can be confusing.. if the runner on 3rd scored before the runner was put out at 2nd on a non-force play the run would usually count because it is a timing play.. but since there was interference called on the B/R then the runner closest to the plate would be called out-- if in the judgement of the HP umpire a play could have been made on him

This is a dead ball. All runners return to their last legally occupied base.

ITS OBSTRUCTION NOT INTERFERENCE BALLS INPLAY THEN WHAT BJ SAID WOULD STAND!!! RUNNER CLOSEST IS THIRD OUT IF SCORED AFTER OUT AT SECOND!!! RUN WOULD COUNT IF SCORED BEFORE THE OUT AT SECOND!!! TIMING PLAY....

Doker, obstruction would be on the defense. In this case it’s interference on the batter. He cannot interfere with a defensive player attempting to make a play. In this scenario, dead ball, batterbis out and runners go back to the base they occupied.
