| Sept. 12, 2018 halfpint20 Women's 40 21 posts | getting responses lol @NancyAllen, you seem to have your "ear to the ground" on this board and would like to know if you have a special way to get people to respond back to you? People put out that they are available and looking for a team, but I have only been contacted by two souls. Do you have a way to track down some folks? Thank you for all your help |

My theory is that it is much easier with the men because there are so many more of them than us. I have tried at various times to get a women's team together and did not have great results either. |

Softballnut16 has put out several messages looking to play on a team, and I am not sure that anyone has ever given her a response back. She is local here. If my lady friends ever put a team together to go to the Worlds, I am definitely going to ask her to join us. It is too bad that there are not more women participating in the sport. The men would love to not to have all of those border restrictions. |
| Sept. 13, 2018 Softballnut16 Women's 50 24 posts | Nancy just to let ya know I have had 2 teams reach out to me for up coming tournaments. I live in Ohio and we only can play softball for about 5 month of the year. I'm still looking for a team for next year the one team was from Ca and just would not be a good fit for me.So I'm still keeping a eye open. I would probably have 2 other ladies that are 45+ that could play at times too. |

There are so few of us women in the Midwest, and we have so few months here to play that I worry about us more than the ladies in the warmer climates that have more teams. I did not see any teams from the Midwest in the list from the Worlds. I hope that you find a team that will be what you need. We have never had a team from Indiana and have always wanted to have a part in having a first one. SSUSA used to have tournament in New Albany, and there were quite a few teams from Michigan and Kentucky as well as teams that traveled to play in it. It did not happen one year, and there was never a women's division when it started back up. I know that ISA (SSUSA's partner association) is talking about having a women's division in their World's in Columbus, Indiana next year. |

| Sept. 15, 2018 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | Sofftballnut16, I actually mentioned you last night. My dear friend is coach of a women's team. She also is a coach of a men's and coed team and a very good organizer. She and some of her girls are in their mid to late 40s. We also know other girls that age. I mentioned you were also looking and maybe a couple of others that you mentioned. I made some strong attempts when I was younger, but the girls that I played with just were not interested. My coach friend is probably the best chance that I have left to ever have a women's senior team from here. I have talked with the office on what we would have to do since there are no qualifying events in our area. Just a bit of history (as I remember it), I am/was much younger than my husband who got me into softball and senior softball. I was 40. At that time, you had to be 50 to play women's. As I got older, the age became younger, first 45, then 40. When the age limit and my age met, I tried very hard to get my lady friends to play in the Worlds. They just were not interested. My husband worked with SSUSA, and the Brickyard qualifier began. That first year there were I believe 3 teams. There was an age disparity, but they had fun. That was the last time that we ever had a women's division. Since 50 was the minimum age, I was grateful to get to umpire some of their games and looked forward to when I would be old enough to play. I also got to umpire a team then that had a woman who was one of those honored in the Baseball Hall of Fame. That was important to me. There was a lady from Franklin College that played with the Ohio Cardinals for years. Dave was kind enough to look for me a couple of years ago during a quiet moment at the Brickyard, and there were only 2 women sanctioned to play from Indiana. The SSUSA tournament in New Albany (labeled Louisville) was the only tournament that had a women's division. Dave, have I reached my word limit yet? Midwest tournaments remain an interesting study for women's. Another much smaller senior association just tried to have one here. They canceled because only 2 teams signed up, one 35, the other 65. ISA (SSUSA rules) is considering a women's division next year for their Worlds. I will give them my full support. That tournament is on the same week every year in Columbus, Indiana. I stay out of park negotiations but know a lot about this area and offer advice when asked. All of that takes contracts, and both SSUSA and ISA have people that do that. Berliner is very nice facility, but they also already have a very full schedule because of that. I have suggested a very nice facility near Columbus, Indiana, but it is up to them on how they proceed. They know that they can rely on me if they have anything I could help with to make women part of that senior event. Hopefully I get to meet you someday. As you can tell, I can discuss softball until my heart stops beating. Perhaps you would want to meet my coach friend and maybe play some women's ball, even if it is not senior. They just came back from playing a tournament in Canada. I think that women's softball is getting smaller at even a greater rate that men's, at least in our part of the country. I was sad that there is not one women's team from the Midwest in Vegas. |
| Sept. 15, 2018 Softballnut16 Women's 50 24 posts | Nancy I enjoy your knowledge & wisedom of Softball.. I also have two fields here in Kidron Ohio (Amish Country) that I have access too. The fences are 240 & 250 feet it’s the fields I use for my league. I have 10 teams ranging in age of 17 -50 year olds, it’s really fun. |
