Oct. 8, 2018 baseballbill 137 posts | Player tracking rating If a player plays down for one completed year, does that become his new tracking rating for the following year ???????? |
Oct. 8, 2018 cyborg45 Men's 75 194 posts | Everything about ratings for players is always subject to approval with the home office. However, it is my understanding that you have a 2 year period of contestability. For example, if you have played most recently on a major team, you will carry that rating for 2 years. If you play AAA as one of their "playing down" players, and don't play on a major team during those 2 years, you may apply to receive a AAA rating. 2 important details here. You can't just set out a year or 2. SSUSA will add on another time period for the year(s) you didn't play. If you play in another association, the burden of proof will be on you for evidence of playing in another class. Having been through this personally, SSUSA draws a pretty hard line with this issue and in my opinion this is a good thing. It really does help with the sandbagging issue which could get very quickly get out of hand. |
Oct. 8, 2018 SSUSA Staff 3490 posts | baseballbill ... cyborg45 has it nailed ... A player's rating experience history has a two year term (current and two preceding Seasons) which serves as the basis of his roster eligibility ... If you have questions about your own circumstances, please call the SSUSA office at (916) 326.5303 and ask to speak with the eligibility department ... Be prepared to provide your name and the team(s) that may be in the mix ... Good luck! |
Oct. 8, 2018 2bornot2b 30 posts | I have a player who has not played any SS USA or other tournament softball since 2014. He played on a major team in 2014 when he was 75 years old. He is now 79 years old. What is he raided and do I need to appeal this? |
Oct. 8, 2018 baseballbill 137 posts | Thanks cyborg. For some reason, I thought it was changed from 2 to 1 year. |
Oct. 8, 2018 DaveDowell Men's 70 4317 posts | baseballbill ... You are correct IF the age of the player/team is 70+ ... That was amended in the rule book for that age division and older groups at the 2016 Rules Committee meetings ... See Rulebook §13.1(1)E on page 62 ... My apologies for not mentioning that exception previously ... |
Oct. 8, 2018 2bornot2b 30 posts | Dave Please interpret section 13 - 1 - 1 - c for a player who hasn't played for 4 years and is now moving up in age to 80s |
Oct. 8, 2018 DaveDowell Men's 70 4317 posts | 2bornot2b ... I'm pretty much a tournament tecchie, not an eligibility person ... Best advice is: If you have questions about a specific player, please call the SSUSA office at (916) 326.5303 and ask to speak with the eligibility department ... Be prepared to provide your and his name and the team(s) that may be in the mix ... They can help you ... Good luck! |
Oct. 9, 2018 2bornot2b 30 posts | Two situations. A player is on a major team in 2018 wins the world's and the team becomes major Plus. What is his history is a major Plus for 2019? A player plays Major in 2018 and his team does so poorly that they re rated after the world's as AAA. Same question what is he rated in 2019? |
Oct. 9, 2018 DaveDowell Men's 70 4317 posts | 2bornot2b ... SSUSA does NOT rate players, but we DO rate teams ... Your two hypothetical players will carry a team rating experience history that matches the current rating of the team(s) he played with ... Those will be Major+ and AAA, respectively ... If your questions are more than just a theoretical exercise, please call the SSUSA office as advised above to get a definitive ruling ... Thank you ... |
