Winter World Championships (Phoenix) TENTATIVE Field Assignments
Any idea when the TENTATIVE field assignments for the upcoming November Winter Worlds in Phoenix will be available? Given the often long travel times in Phoenix they've been very helpful in the past.

Just curious. Why are the Tentative Field Assignments for the Florida Winters always posted much earlier (August 27th this year) while the Phoenix Winters fields are posted much later (estimated to be Oct 23rd this year)?

I would think it is because the Florida tournament always has a lot less teams then Phoenix. It is much easier to estimate when you are dealing with less teams. Easier to wait and get it right then speculate and have to change locations after teams have made reservations.

Because the Winter Nationals hotel inventory management is handled by the Lee County Sports Commission ... That group starts hounding us for tentative field assignments in June or July so they can begin their email campaigns to teams and players who have participated in previous years ... We make some random guesses to get them started and hope we're close at the end ... If we make changes, the Lee County Sports Commissions just moves teams/players around for convenience without economic detriment or public complaint ... The Winter Worlds player pool has a somewhat different noise level if we miss on a guess, so we just defer until the confidence level is pretty high ... (Read: AFTER I've laid out the tournament master plan!) ...
