reno playing fields
The playing fields at the reno 60+qualifier this past week were terrible! Don Mello and Shadow Mountain were decent enough, but Rancho San Raphael was an embarrasment. This was especially true at Field 4, where large humps were found between short and 3rd, and near 2nd base. The only time the fields were prepped was before the first game of each day. Put some water on the fields, for chrisakes. This was a quality tourney at one time. Now its the #@*&%'@

Sorry guys I hit the wrong button on my computer. Now as i was saying about the parks were just fine and as far the umpiring goes, we had 5 excellent umpires doing our games. This was the first time we play in RENO and yeah we won the 50's AA division and I'm not saying this because we won the division . It's to bad you thought that way. We too payes at Don Mello those fields were just find, we had no bad hops in our games what so ever. . The 50's AA great games and some extra innings along with it and some good competions and hope to see all those teams at the world tournament.

Yeah I sure can Class Act took first place from So Cal. Enterprise Electric from Boise,Idaho took 2nd then Boomers Bangers from Pleasonton Ca took 3rd the Stockton 50's were 4th and Engles Construction from Bend Oregan took 5th and Sacrament Saints took 6th. The records were 5-0, 4-1,3-2. 2-3, 1-3, 0-5 in that order.

I was at Rancho. Wind was strong, made it tough to pitch. I think they need wider mats for these wind conditions. Umpires were really good. I like to see the hustle, good or bad call. I think that there was a father-son umpire team that I have seen at a lot of tournaments who make the game fun! Outside of the wind and dust, I was happy with the outcome (even though we didn't do so well). I look forward to the Cup, maybe we'll have better luck.

i'm with you softballer. the 50's major teams played on 285 ft fences the whole tourney. that was stupid, we had the soccer players scattering almost every batter.they finally moved one game away from them so we wouldn't hit them. why didn't they put the women on these fields and let the men play on the 300 ft fields, not to smart are u ssusa.also how can a team seeded 5th ,loose its first game and be asured 3rd place even if they go 0-2,well that was the scenario for the majors.also they split the bracket up why?i've always thought that the people at ssusa wern't the brightest now they have proven it.
results from the majors gold were BRL listed as a major+ won the gold with stone age 2nd,chico sprinklers 3rd,master collsion 4th.
in the silver bracket it went roaddogs 1st not sure of the rest.
why were BRL playing major when they are listed as major+ these people at ssusa need to get thier chit together.

I play with the Arizona Mob and we won the AAA 50's. I agree with it being asinine playing on 285' fences while the women and 55's played on fields that were marked as 305!
Also, the team we played for the championship. Quicksilver, lost their first game in the double elimination tournament and with the aid of a forfeit advanced straight to the finals!!! They skipped right past Oregon Masters who had to play through the losers bracket to finish third. This is absurd! All brackets were set up this way. When brought to the attention of the director, he said that the reason for this is so a team that loses it's first game has a chance to come back and play in the finals. Give me a break! What ever happened to earning it? After the game he gave his speach as to how both teams had now qualified for Kent, Wa. and handed out awards. Quicksilver finished 2nd, and qualified and never won a game in the double elimination bracket!! I'm sure that the Oregon Masters feel ripped off.
This is not intended to downgrade Quicksilver as they were a very good team and palyed us tough! We only won by scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. They probably deserved 2nd but should have worked their way up like a ny normal tourney.
