Jan. 12, 2019 TAT22 74 posts | Spring Worlds II Dave Dowell, is there anyway that Senior Softball can let teams know which city they will be playing in for this tourney? That way it avoids the half hour drive and they can book their hotel in the appropriate city or are the teams going to be playing in both cities? IF that is the case then my question is mute. |
Jan. 12, 2019 TAT22 74 posts | Dave, let me clarify my question, which age divisions will be playing in which city? |
Jan. 12, 2019 DaveDowell Men's 70 4312 posts | This is a completely new tournament site structure for us, so we won't be "guessing" on field assignments (and therefore, which cities) until we have actual team counts shortly after the entry deadline of March 1st for the Spring World's II component ... For the Spring World's I component, (Men's 65+ and more senior divisions), that's all in Mesquite and the two facilities are about 1½ miles apart ... |

Jan. 13, 2019 Jon44 Men's 55 149 posts | Played there last year in a young guy tourney. The fields we played on were 275'-280' in the outfield. Senior balls with senior bats are not a challenge on these fields. The weakest guy can easily put it out with our equipment on these fields. Fences are taller, but anyone telling you they are more than 280' are wrong (at least the 4 fields we played on). Can't imagine they would schedule any 50-60 aged teams on these fields. If so, home runs gone after 2-3 innings and then the games get interesting. I wish I was exaggerating, but the team that hits the fewest HR outs will be the team that wins. It's a nice park with mature trees, scoreboards, and other nice things, but the fences are way too short. Get ready for Home Run derby. Great hosts though-- love the Kingman guys. |
