Discussion: SSUSA & SPA going to head to head April 25-28 in metro Atlanta market

The SPA event is an established tournament in Cartersville. It will be interesting to see how the fields for each of these tournaments fill up.
Glad to see SSUSA adding tournaments in the Georgia, Alabama, Florida Panhandle area.

SPA Cartersville is ran by a very respected person in this area, nice parks and good location.

The SSUSA tournament they used to have in Birmingham was a really good tournament.

I hope both tournaments make but IMO it’s unlikely based on the number of teams in Montgomery.

Perl -- you are correct. What I was getting at is 2 Senior tournaments in the Atl. area on the same weekend will either result in 2 separate tournaments will small fields in each age group OR one will make and the other will tank. The SPA tournament is an established event will a well-liked director in Pete Fowler.
Nothing intentional there, it was just the only weekend Gwinnett County had open. Next year they should contact Pete Fowler and make sure the dates do not conflict.
SSUSA ought to contact Pete and see if he will make it an SSUSA tournament.
It would make it bigger and better to have ALL the teams at one place
I never hurts to ask.
Just my 2 cents

coop why would Pete want to make Cartersville SSUSA? He has been doing tournies for SPA as long as I have been playing senior ball. I think Pete's tourney will be fine the other tourney's participation not so sure about.
From what I have heard, this is the last year for Pete to run SPA tournaments
(Just rumors I have heard)
It might be in his best interest to make the change now instead of later
It NEVER hurts to ask.
Pete is all about the softball players.
All he can say is YES, NO or HELL NO

My guess is that it is way too late for Pete to even consider switching from SPA to SSUSA for the April tournament. Plus, Pete is a straight up guy and would not make a switch. Seems like a bit of poor planning here.
Yeah Pete is straight up we talk to SSUSA about it but it involves some money & we did address the problem about not having enough SSUSA tournaments in the south east, more like Ga. S.C., Tenn, etc.. This probably is why you see these tournaments now.
It will be interesting to see how this works out. There are not enough teams to hold 2 SR. tournaments in close proximity in the SE.
Now you know how it turned out..one has 40 teams the other cancelled.
Ho
I told you!
Here is the golf clap you're selection.
Tim - Don't get all butt-hurt just because my assumption was correct!
