April 8, 2019 k man Men's 65 325 posts | Tim, nice job with getting the results up in a timely fashion. Other than the soggy outfield due to Tues night's rain the Wed/Thur weather was the best in the 5 years we've been coming to Tidewater. Hope that we can get back to regular seeding and bracket play in the future as I know that others and myself felt it lacked something and in some cases was anti climactic. Tidewater is like opening day for us, knowing we can finally get outdoors. Look forward to seeing you, Cal and Joe down the line and I'll try to keep my concerns to a minimum. Also look forward to seeing many of the guys on the other teams we faced. Good guys and competition! Stay healthy and have a great season. #luckytobeplayingakidsgameatourage! |

April 8, 2019 TimMcElroy 942 posts | It was good to see you and the other Jags guys this week. It always is. RE: Scheduling I spoke to Joel and a few others about this at the park last week. If you recall, the original team list included two 70s and two 75s teams. Had the other 75s team not dropped out, you would have played a combined round robin into two best of three series. When they dropped, the scheduler was forced to come up with some other creative format. Had he not done that, we would have been talking about teams paying "X" dollars and driving "Y" distance to play the same teams over and over. The format wasn't ideal, but I'd submit to you that it was the better alternative. RE: Game times I umpired 5 games during your session and all of them went 7 full innings. We limited infield balls to 1st inning only and encouraged teams to have CRs ready to go. There is a rule in the book covering game times (65 minutes) in round robin formats, but it is really a non-issue if everyone does their part to move it along. |
April 8, 2019 k man Men's 65 325 posts | Thanks for the clarification Tim. Maybe if we didn't give 5 outs in some innings we could have gotten the full 7 in and yes, on and off the field expeditiously would certainly have helped. Umped 5 games and not one of them ours, you avoiding us??? LOL |
