Hi guys ... I just got back to the softball grind yesterday after surviving (barely!) my "real job" as a tax accountant ... Darn, that new tax law was fun this year! (NOT) ... The Session #1 Master Plan has been generated and we're hopeful of posting at least the seeding game schedules later today ... Session #2 is a couple of days away as a best guess scenario ... Thanks!

Gee Dave thanks for the 65 Major schedule. It was such a surprise that of 13 other teams we could have drawn we some how drew Timerworks randomly ( not ). So we can add vindictive to your character as well. Since you deleted all my previous thoughts reminding me of the book 1984, that would make you Big Brother, I would hope you at least read this before you censor it.

Relax Marc ... There's been a rating change and I haven't re-generated the Round Robin match-ups ... Last Call 65 (NV) is actually a 65-Major team and not a 65-AAA team ... Will turn the software loose once more and see what happens ... Here's how it works ... There are 16 total teams, and exactly half (8) are from California and the other eight are not ... The game sequencing module is instructed to generate 16 games in "cross-over mode", meaning the eight California teams play 16 games vs. the "everybody else" group ... So there are actually only eight other teams you could draw, not 13 ...

Sequencing is done in "numbers only" format (intentionally ignoring team names) and the last thing that happens is that I overlay the team names on the numbers AFTER the numerical processing is completed ... So, to be nice about it, your "vindictive" remark is total crap ... Your statistical odds of playing ANY specific team (of 16) are exactly 25% (2 in 8) ... I have never in my 15 year career of doing this manipulated the game sequencing generation to either create OR prevent a specific match-up ... Although I don't mind saying it, I'm cheering for the karma-gods later on this afternoon ...

Dave. My 80 AAA team is scheduled to play on Field TBA. I've been to BLD often but don't remember any field called TBA (where is the smiley emoji when I need it?). Seriously, what is your best guess when we will get times and fields? Also we've had only 8:00 am starts in the last three tournaments and sure would like some variety. Mike ... I'll keep you out of the 8:00 AM time slots on Wednesday ... Probably mid-morning so your bracket games aren't too late when it's likely to be much warmer ... Should be later today or tomorrow ... The 65-Major/AAA team rating affects BLD scheduling on Wednesday ... Thanks!

Dave congratulations on your karma-gods coming to be for you. Its good we are going to be in Vegas because your wish at 25% odds has come to be twice now. I got the word from my team manager that you would rather me not publicly hold you to task for your decisions. Ok understood, but you need to understand that you are putting a team in a tournament that effects 14 other teams negatively and you do not care. The End.

The word you SHOULD have gotten from your manager is exactly and only what I typed to him ... Here it is verbatim ...
__________

Hi _______ ... It might not be a bad idea for you to slip Marc XXXXXXX's fingertips into a vise for a bit ... I'm all good with constructive and valid criticism, but not so much so on ignorant personal attacks on my integrity ... Thanks ...
__________

And speaking of gambling, you appear to be the one "doubling down" rather than issuing an entirely appropriate apology ...

Dave why in the world would I apologize for speaking my mind. I thought that was what this forum was for. If we don't agree with you we shouldn't talk. Your arrogance is astounding in this situation. You make a ridiculous decision and when called on it want an apology, what a joke. Leave it as is. The deed is done all 15 teams must abide by your decision, and we will so it's over.

I know Dave to be an honest man and one of high character. With 200 teams in the tournament, I doubt very seriously that he cares who plays who in an April seeding game.

@Marc
You made the discussion personal about Dave’s integrity, by calling him vindictive. In all of my years of dealing with Dave, I have to agree with Tim- he is an honest man and of high character. I don’t always agree with him either. And this message board wasn’t constructed for that reason- it is for information, discussion, and opinions. Not for personal attacks.

That was wrong of you, in my opinion- not that any one asked. For that reason, I would think an apology is warranted.

Sorry MARC, you loose all around on this one! I agree with Tim & Uncle Mike on all accounts!
Yes, this board is used to talk about Senior SB but NOT to make personnel attacks on someone's integrity & calling him vindictive! I see you are new to this board, 6 posts, so until you understand the purpose of this board & use it as most of us do you should stay off! I doubt you have ever met Dave, but if you are a real man, you should make the effort while in Vegas to meet him. And while you are there, the 1st thing you should do is apologize for your remarks! I have known Dave for almost 15 years, as a player, manager & TD, and NEVER in that time have I seen/heard Dave act in any vindictive way or without integrity!
Most of us are here to play softball & lucky to be able to continue to play as long as we can! I'm almost 75 & I Bless everyday I can still play this game!
Take a chill pill & play!

Batting Practice near Big League Dreams. Any one know of a place to have batting practice near BLD?

There are cages inside of the BLD facility. You get to swing away without having to set up a screen, fetch balls or change into dry socks.

Marc,
You are obviously new to the board and perhaps SSUSA. If you knew Dave Dowel you never would have leveled such a personal attack questioning his character and integrity. I'm sure if you ever meet him or get to be around SSUSA for a while and begin to grasp the enormity of the job he has as well as his professionalism you will think differently. You were out of line. Hopefully you will see that and apologize.

Marc, don't mean to pile on but agree with all those above me, apology is warranted due to inappropriate remarks. I don't always agree with Dave either (grins) and honestly agree with you concerning the intent of the statement that Timberworks will knock teams into Losers Bracket early, BUT you get to play them in play in game and then went off on Dave, it's a PLAY IN game, geez. If someone is going to kick my #ss, I could only HOPE it's a play in game! LOL

And you may come in and tell me that it COULD affect your seeding, I agree, it COULD but you still have to play the game and IF you have to play Timberworks the first elim game (now talk about LONG odds), THEN you might have a gripe (IMHO).

Thanks everyone who commented ... I'm going to exercise a bit of "M/B Moderator Authority" and close this thread because I'm getting a bit uncomfortable by the accolades!... I'm not a spotlight seeker, it's always about the good of the game and the players for me ... Marc: Your objection is noted despite our disagreement over the tournament structure ... We both think we are right, and those are, by definition, mutually exclusive positions ... Good luck to all in Las Vegas or the next place you play, with whatever association ... Thanks, again ...
