Question for Dave-Reno Tournament
Our team is playing 65 Major at Reno. At the Southwest Championships, Timberworks beat us by 25 runs and knocked us out of the winners bracket. It appears that seeds 7-10 in Reno will have to play an extra bracket game than the first 6 seeds. We don't want to be a low seed and face an extra game, but we play Timberworks in Game One. Will our game against them affect how we're seeded as we're one of only two teams that will face them in the tournament? I'm hoping (should we lose) we're not getting kicked down by this team again since they don't play 8 other teams in seeding play.

Bob ... Timberworks and Enviro-Vac are playing in the seeding rounds and their games WILL count for the six teams they play ... They are then going to play a Best 2 of 3 Championship Series on Wednesday and the 65-Major bracket will be "pure" ... Don't overthink this! ... Six (randomly determined) of the 10 Major teams will play a 65-Major+ crossover game, and I suspect that the eventual winner of the tournament is going to have to beat all but one of the teams they play, so long as that one team they lose to isn't in the Championship or "If" game ... ... If you are in a 'contemplative' mode right now, take a look at the 60-Platinum bracket and see what I did there ... A first-time approach to handling two higher rated teams in a larger bracket ... I dreamed that one up in what I hope is better than the Southwest nightmare the last time the 65-Major+ and Major played combined! ... Good luck! ...

Dave, thanks for your prompt reply. If I understand this, six teams will play a Major Plus team in seeding play, and four teams will not. Since the four lowest seeded teams will have to play an additional bracket game, wouldn't the four teams NOT playing a Plus team in seeding play have a potential advantage as to where they seed?

There are all kinds of "What if's", none of which mean a thing until 20-20 hindsight materializes ... Here's another equally valid one to consider: The four teams not playing a crossover game allege that since the crossover games don't mean a thing in the 65-Major+ Best 2 of 3, they won't be trying as hard, will let up in avoiding injuries, getting guys playing time who normally don't, etc., giving you guys a better chance to steal a win ...

Same advice as above: Don't overthink this ... Doing so often results in talking your team into a self-fulfilling prophesy for failure ... This is why we actually play the games! ... Good luck! ...

Hey Donnie,I asked a respectful question directed at Dave, not you. We don't need flamers on this board with nothing better to do than criticize.
