Reno
Just curious as to what the weather was like this past weekend in Reno. How did it effect games? We come in Tuesday and have our fingers crossed!

SUCKED!
Cloudy w/rain off & on - Fri. wasn't to bad but Sat. the wind was so bad anything in the air would drift sometimes more then 20 yards! Camped under pop ups just to have to back peddle quickly w/a lot of them dropping in for "hits" or flying out depending which way the field was situated! Not only windy but COLD (cutting through layers of clothes cold!)too! We played @ 8am this morning and by 9:30am the pass was closed w/o chains then by 11am when we were eliminated the pass was open & skated through!
Even with the weather conditions it was a well run tournament - everything was smooth as far as I saw! The umpires were pretty good too! The ones we had would get out from behind the plate and were on top of calls @ 2nd! Some of them still need glasses? YEP! (but at our ages don't we all!) 8-}

That's a fairly accurate description of the weather, except that I think OMD was exaggerating a bit on how warm it was! ... Saturday was probably the coldest day I've spent at a facility in maybe forever! ... Despite that, all S1 games played as scheduled at all facilities, and that's a credit to the teams and umpires ... Well done! ... The forecast for S2 and S3 is much better ... Hope they're right ... Good luck everybody! ...

It was pretty funny cuz some guys had so many layers on they looked liked the Michelin Tire dude - or maybe Kenny from South Park comedy show. Also if your driving you might want to pick up some chains if you don't already have them. They were selling for over $100 in Reno. Can always return when you get home if you don't use. The hotels were trying to get in on the closure too! Rooms that are normally $42.95 Sun-Thur. were being jacked up to over $120 for Sun. night. Moral of the story - Plan ahead! Good luck to all teams on & off the fields!

A few scattered showers for Memorial Day (Monday) afternoon, but no rain in the forecast for the balance of the tournament ... Expected highs are: Tuesday (68°), Wednesday (72°), Thursday (69°), Friday (72°), Saturday (77°) and Sunday (80°) ...
