Maui Tournament - 2007
We just returned from the annual Maui softball tournament held last week and I just wanted to take this opportunity to say mahalo to Ed Rose, Mike Walker, Audie Hollis and all the rest of the Florida team who once again made this an event to remember forever.

This tournament is just getting better and better every year we attend. The locals really roll out the red carpet for all of the players and their families and made us all feel very welcomed. The opening and closing ceremonies with the traditional Hawaiian prayer and blessing was absolutely incredible.

This was my second year attending this tournament and we're already making plans to be there again next year. For most of us, tournaments come and go and we forget about them but this tournament experience will be etched in our memories forever.

Once again, thanks to everyone involved for making this year's event so special, and my best to you and your lovely families that we were so fortunate to get to know. See you next year!

Fabe,

This is a yearly tournament that is put on every May by the Florida Senior Softball Association (Ed Rose & Mike Walker) and Bob Straub, the Hawaii USSSA Director. I don't know for sure if there is an actual name attached to it, but these guys really work hard to ensure that having a good time for the players and their families is the number one priority.

Mahalo Mike B. for the kind words you expressed towards Ed and I regarding this years trip. I hate to admit it but this years trip was the very best ever. That was mostly due to the great people, like you and Tita, who traveled with us to wonderful Maui, HI

I also agree with you that the locals make the trip so very special for all of us. They really role out the Aloha spirit and make this annual trip more than just about softball. Mike you and your group from the West Coast are the best people and great softball players. Congrats on your team winning the tournament this year. You guys played excellent and were great sports about it.

Next year we plan on making this a World Tournament to include all Masters and Seniors age groups with Women and Co-ed as well. The dates of the tournament will be May 7 - 11, 2008. We will be putting together travel packages soon so anyone and everyone interested can keep up with our plans by visiting our website: http://www.floridassa.com or by calling Ed Rose at: 321-223-9640 for more details.

We hope everyone will mark this down as a must do trip next year? PS - Congrats on winning the first ever Wally Ball event as well... lol

Say hello to Tita from Evelyn and I.

Sincerely,
Mike Walker

Mike, great job in winning the Maui Invitational. You guys put together a scrappy team with just the right amount of power. I thought we had a pretty good overall team there but you guys dismantled us.

The local guys with Low Key and the Rookies have taken the tournament to heart and are fielding some competitive teams.

Bret Krugger, besides being huge can mash the ball unbelieveably. What a hitter and I have never seen a 280 pound guy that can run like that.

We were real happy that you guys brought the title back to the mainland. Next year we will be there and shooting for you guys!

I love this tournament as besides the two feasts they provided I enjoy being in Hawaii and doing the surfing, snorkeling, bike riding, etc. Lets try and get some more teams there next year as Bob, the recreation directory, indicated that there were a lot of local teams from some of the other islands that would be there next year. I know Ed and Mike Walker are also working on getting some of the Japanese, Korean, teams there as well.

Tell Paulie hey for me (what a great lead off hitter) and I'm sure we'll see you guys at some other tournaments this year.
